Why the "Fireland" crowd is just not getting it.

Zero spin...facts. We are in fact in a playoff battle with the defending Super Bowl champs. Fact, our offense has played better all season than it has in a long time. Fact, our defense is getting more turnovers per game than a longtime and generally playing better.

Our offense was ranked 24th before yesterday's great performance, today it's probably ranked close to 30. How the **** can you make an argument for is offense?

Stupid to admit that seeing as its against the rules to create a new account.

Burned! Nice one

That's because the Super Bowl Champs, lost a lot of good players, and came back to the field, not because we made some great strides.

Oh sure, we aren't passing for 1000 more yards this year. We don't have twice as many passing TDs and less ints. Jesus, what's with people like you? You can't be happy for the progress we made this year against a tougher schedule.

See other reply. More TDs, less picks, more points per game. Our OL sucks, no lie, but everything else is much better. Running will improve with OL.

Thats why he should be fired.

Always a big fan of the "dont change anything!" crowd. It never ceases to amuse me that they havent figured out: when you change nothing, nothing actually changes. Should be self-explanatory, yet i still see posts expressing shock at why we keep losing.

We are in a playoff battle for the final spot with the defending Super Bowl champs in only a second year of an already inexperienced franchise QB. This year we will prob win two more games than last amidst a ridiculous media frenzy on something that nobody could have predicted.

Many of you say....blah blah, ten years of mediocrity. Well, perhaps that is frustrating. However, if its not clear to you that what this team is doing now is largely different than the past then I don't know what to tell you. I do know that blowing up Ireland and potentially losing Philbin isn't the way to go. That will just perpetuate mediocrity. Ross knows this so don't hold your breath on anybody going anywhere.

We just had one awful game, get back from the ledge.

Dude, if you think this team is any different than the others then you're delusional. One bad game? How about losing to a 4th string undrafted QB twice. Once with 2 week to get ready at HOME. How about losing to th then winless bucs. For years every time we need to win a game real bad we lay an egg ad yesterday was no different. The oline has been a mess since Ireland got here. The LB's can't tackle. The d-line got run over yesterday even tho we knew what was coming. Your argument to keep things going make no sense. We haven't won the superbowl in 40 YEARS!! We haven't make the playoffs in5 years. It's the same old story. They win a couple of games and you all think we have the 72 team. Guess what? They're not even close. The bills were missing their top 2 QB's plus their top 3 WR's and still beat us.......twice!!........you want more of the same BS then fine, keep Ireland and you will continue to get more of the same!!

p.s. I don't blame Ireland for everything that hppen yesterday. That was embarrasing and it was the whole team. Bu Ireland ill never build us a winner.

Ozzy rules!!

Ireland is a genius immediately following a win, and a dunce after a loss. You don't need to be Miss Cleo to know what posts will be made by our bipolar fanbase the day after a game.

Cherry picked facts are often used to spin.

But let's take a look...

What does the Ravens being the "defending Super Bowl champs" have to do with us? We got beaten by the Ravens even though the Ravens are clearly not as good as they were a year ago.

in only a second year of an already inexperienced franchise QB.
The jury is very much still out on this claim, but that aside, you assign no blame or responsibility to Ireland for the years he was in charge in which we had no "franchise qb."

This year we will prob win two more games than last...

Five years to see a two game improvement. You're holding that up as a great accomplishment???
And we're not even sure about the two game improvement yet. The propensity for this team showing up flat for games might very well leave us only a one game improvement in five years.

...amidst a ridiculous media frenzy on something that nobody could have predicted.

A ridiculous media frenzy that could have been avoided had Ireland not signed Incognito with his long and established trail of dysfunction at every stop he's made in his football career. You say it couldn't have been predicted but the kind of bs he caused is the very reason Incognito was not even on the board for a lot of teams. It was absolutely predictable that Incognito would cause some kind of problem here; Ireland chose to ignore it.

Getting beaten by the Bills at home after a bye week. Then getting beaten again by the Bills with possible playoff elimination on the line. And in both games, the Bills were playing their backup quarterback. That really doesn't sound "largely different than the past."

I do know that blowing up Ireland and potentially losing Philbin isn't the way to go.

And I'm just as sure that dumping Ireland would be of long term benefit to this team.

That will just perpetuate mediocrity.

Keeping Ireland perpetuates mediocrity. I have five years of evidence to back me up on that.

Ross knows this so don't hold your breath on anybody going anywhere.

I have no doubt that Ross will make yet another bad decision regarding this team.

We just had one awful game, get back from the ledge.

I'm on no ledge. I just don't fill my head with fairy-tale fantasies of the kind you've shared. We are what we are: a mediocre team led by a sub-par GM.

JTC, you playing "A Beautiful Mind" the home game? Not going one by one to rebut. If you read my posts I criticize what needs to be criticized (OL for example), praise what should be praised (Coyles game plans from time to time), and do so optimistically since I am a fan.

Then why are we still hoovering around .500 yet again?

Meanwhile, we all sit mired in the same mediocrity that has plagued us for years.

One of the best posts I've seen all year. Amazing how far some people on this board go to defend Ireland. What has this guy done that it's so amazing? Keeing us around or below .500 year after year? Can't wait for him to go.

Ozzy rules!!

Ireland's problem is ,he keeps finding medicore 4th talent in the first two rounds.

I don't understand how anyone thinks this is a well constructed team. Here's how I see it:

OL: total disaster. Mike Pouncey is the only NFL quality starter here. Bryant McKinnie is an acceptable backup. Nate Garner is an acceptable backup due to versatility. Sam Brenner might be okay.

RB: total disaster. Lamar Miller sucks, Daniel Thomas sucks, and we got nothing after that.

WR: decent unit. Mike Wallace looks like he's making an earnest effort to fit into the offense and become a more complete player. That's huge. This could turn out to be a great signing. Brian Hartline is who he is. Rishard Matthews and Brandon Gibson are solid.

TE: almost disastrous. We have a very good H-Back in Charles Clay and.... that's it. Dion Sims is a good blocker. That's it. Again, Clay isn't even a traditional in-line TE. And after him, we got NOTHING.

DL: good unit. Even with Starks and Soliai likely gone, this is a good unit overall.

LB: total disaster. Total and complete unmitigated disaster. And there's nothing we can do about it until after next offseason.

Secondary: big money contract to Reshad Jones, who isn't very good. Drafted two rookie corners who can't even get on the field. Chris Clemons is a free agent. Brent Grimes is a free agent. I think even Nolan Carroll is a free agent.

Right now the one bright spot for this team is that we have a QB who looks (to some of us) like he's going to be very good. And that QB is getting crushed behind the worst OL in football.

And I'm not even going to go into the fact that we drafted a kicker who is worse than the kicker we had before.

I don't understand how folks are excited about 2014 for this team right now, considering all of those things. We are flat out stuck with bad linebackers and our defense is likely to regress. All we have to hang our hat on right now is the hope that Ryan Tannehill takes another big step forward and that we can somehow fix the OL in just one offseason.

OP you blame the Oline and the weather - yet our Dline looked like they were on skates and their Dline and DBs made us look like a JR College

Ireland is responsible for over-paying Wheeler - Ireland over values certian players and undervalues key players and then "whiffs" entirely

He is responible for the Oline - how soft it has become how old the OTs is on HIM

We have zero subs and we aren't built to play in inclement weather where we face NE, NY, and Buff 3 times a year

Coyle should not be getting pass. The defense has under achieved partly because of personnel but also because of scheme. OV has been a beast but for the most part the others have under performed. Wheeler has been a bust but I'll also add Ellerbe to the list as he has not lived up to the hype.

Coaching wise I just don't understand what our DB's are being taught or do we purposely target DB's who always appear to be surprised when they see a ball coming at them? Clemons is a decent Safety but the only way this guy gets an INT is if it sticks in his facemask. Perhaps he needs glasses? Carroll also plays like this at times. If they all played like Grimes we would be golden.
