I'll hand you he drops picks, but not to go too traditional, SS is the run support lay the hard hits guy. Hence why Jones played in the box most of the season.
Exactly why he is not a fit for Coyle's defensive scheme. His safeties are supposed to be interchangeable with no real FS or SS. Not only is he weak with his tackles, he can't sniff out the ball carrier on run plays. The only thing he is decent at is coverage deep with good closing speed. And you even agree he can't make plays on the ball when he is in coverage. Sounds like he limited the role of Jones last year as an all around safety and playmaker, like we all know he can be.
