Why Was Matt Moore Signed by Miami?

Why was Tyler Thigpen traded for by this organization? This franchise hasn't shown a willingness to pull Henne for anyone other than Pennington, so I'll believe it when I see it.

Matt Moore is a bum. He looked halfway decent against guys that are going to have regular 9 to 5 jobs in a few weeks. Chad Henne may not be the answer, but he is better than Matt Moore. One of these years the Dolphins have to draft a quarterback in the first round like everyone else with a good quarterback did.

I disagree with that, Moore has a better history than Henne in Pro Football. Bringing him here ensured a QB competition would be the result unless Henne trasnsformed into something he has never been.

Matt Moore career rating =73.9
Chad Henne= 75.3

Not sure what criteria you are using, but looking at their ratings, fairly even I'd say, CH has gotten way more playng time though.

I think its more fair to say that Moore has flashed higher potential, not necessarily that he has performed better as a whole. Moore has multiple 3 TD, 0 interception games, while Henne has none. Moore also has a 7-6 starting record, while Henne is 14-15. Moore has also actually thrown a game-winning TD drive. In only 1 game of Henne's career, the Jets game, did we actually come back for reasons besides the fact that Henne had thrown an interception the drive before which cost us a lead.

It's worth noting that Henne has performed this way when he was groomed for years. Moore was a third stringer when he was first thrust into action, and even last year he wasn't ever really the guy in Carolina.

I love that everyone's defense is "Matt Moore looked good against scrubs", when we've never even be able to say that about Henne, considering at least half of his preseason performances have been unmitigated disasters no matter what part of the opposing team he's facing.

If they fail miserably enough to have a draft pick that would net one of the big two, then they should and probably would be fired, and therefore will not be around to enjoy the fruits of their failure.

I still think Ireland survives with a bad year.

He may survive but if a coach such as Cowher
comes to Miami watch Ireland get nutered because NO
outstanding coach available is going to let Ireland have the
grocery credit card

I think it depends on what you consider a "bad year." If we end up with a record bad enough to land us a top 5 pick in the 2012 draft, I'm not so sure Ireland would or should survive....

During Moore's 09 hotstreak where in 5 starts he won half of Carolina's total games, he beat ultimate division champs MN and NO, in the midst of them fighting for the title and home team advantage (and you know how Brees and Favre did that year, right?) and he beat Brady's 10-6 Cheatriots. He booked a 98QBR and in only had several games where he threw zero interceptions and a couple of TDs.

So this dismissal that he plays well against the JV really has little traction *(unless you consider 2 deep in the playoff/SB teams and the PATS and Giants D as "JV"), whether he ends up regaining the form he had displayed with a mediocre team or not.

Agree, however I think Ross may have learned his lesson trying to land big-name coaches. I could see Ross promoting Nolan to HC and keeping everything else in place. I love Nolan as a defensive coordinator but have to admit, I'd be concerned with him as head coach after his time with the 49ers.
