Precisely. The athletic ability on our line is abysmal toward non-existent. It wasn't popular to downplay the Hudson Houck acquisition but several of us pointed out on this forum that it really didn't mean squat until the personnel was severely upgraded. You watch other teams, even in preseason, and the skill level on the offensive line jumps out at you, agile athletes exploding off the ball and making plays. Our offensive line is a pile of humanity. And those are the good plays.
I' m relieved Vernon Carey has been moved to RT and hope it's permanent. He is not a LT and it has been silly to pretend otherwise. I've posted many times this preseason his body positioning and footwork are not that of a LT. This is level one. The intensity level of the regular season is a huge step upward and Carey would be exposed bigtime at LT. Not as badly as Wade Smith two years ago but plenty. Carey was a RT during his best season at Miami in 2002, when Willis McGahee rushed for several miles. Many of the TD jaunts were off the right side including one in the Fiesta Bowl.
At least McIntosh plays like a LT. He is still not in good shape and its hard to envision any type of running game off the left side if he starts.
