Why wasn't Seth demoted?

how about the top 5 linemen in there. Carey, James, Hadnot, McDoogle, MacIntosh. I think the line has played well. Most posters who have watched the games would agree. This is a much improved line from last year. )I think) Saban is just trying to light a fire under the vets to increase their level of play for Sat. game to put closure to the QB situation.

I was pissed off when Ben Wilkerson signed with the bengals but I trusted saban knew something else we don't...he seems to be still injured of the same problem he had at college(knees), thats probably why saban did not go after him..
l'm trying to trust him again about this center thing though it's been hard :D

A total lack of depth and talent on our O-line is what's happening.

Precisely. The athletic ability on our line is abysmal toward non-existent. It wasn't popular to downplay the Hudson Houck acquisition but several of us pointed out on this forum that it really didn't mean squat until the personnel was severely upgraded. You watch other teams, even in preseason, and the skill level on the offensive line jumps out at you, agile athletes exploding off the ball and making plays. Our offensive line is a pile of humanity. And those are the good plays.

I' m relieved Vernon Carey has been moved to RT and hope it's permanent. He is not a LT and it has been silly to pretend otherwise. I've posted many times this preseason his body positioning and footwork are not that of a LT. This is level one. The intensity level of the regular season is a huge step upward and Carey would be exposed bigtime at LT. Not as badly as Wade Smith two years ago but plenty. Carey was a RT during his best season at Miami in 2002, when Willis McGahee rushed for several miles. Many of the TD jaunts were off the right side including one in the Fiesta Bowl.

At least McIntosh plays like a LT. He is still not in good shape and its hard to envision any type of running game off the left side if he starts.

maybe the coaches think he is doing well?

Seth Sucks....sorry but that is my honest opinion....he gets beaten like a drum and looks clueless out there. :yell:

because they dont have his replacement yet. Hadnot seems to be sticking to RG for some reason. They could be waiting for Ephraim to see if he is worth anything.

ummmmm, mcdougle was just demoted. care to wish again?

what color is the sky in your world? Carey is moved to RT to take Mcdougle out of the lineup. Mcintosh is the only other LT we got. Carey is doing very well at LT. :goof:

Mcdougle sucks in a game and is demoted..mckinney has been sucking forever and hes not demoted.
i dont think we have anybody else? what about middleton from thr raiders? isnt he a center?

It appears we will be stuck with swingdoor Seth this season. And much as I hate to blame one guy for a losing season, I think we will all see he will be a big part of most of our offensive problems this year.

Find a semblance of a clue. I've watched line play at every snap for 30+ years, regardless of whether I have any interest in the teams. Vernon Carey is not a LT. Any posters here who have hyped his play at the position this preseason are flat wrong. I've posted that since the Bears game. He sets up too slowly and too shallow. His upper body is almost never parallel to his feet during pass blocking. In the regular season he will get ambushed by premier rush ends. He does get a good drive off the ball on running plays but the RDEs are too quick and athletic for him and often elude the initial charge.

Don't buy the bunk. No team invests an entire offseason and three exhibition games making a move like that, involving a vital position like LT, only to abandon it so abruptly, if the guy looks like a gem at the position. Carey was a good pickup but he belongs at RT. I watched him there throughout 2002 with my Canes and he excelled. He is not even close to the player at LT that he was at RT that season. Remember, Miami moved Gonzalez from RT to LT and played Carey at RT late in 2001 when Bryant McKinnie got hurt. In other words, the Hurricane coaching staff understood Carey was not a LT and shifted personnel to avoid exposing him at LT.

That's an excellent post, I couldn't agree more.

Carey is NOT an LT, he's not very good in open space, and combine that with the fact that he will be setting up across from the premier pass rushers in the NFL. He will be better suited to play RT. Stockar has SUCKED, he's the same lazy *** type of player we have in McKinney, both struggle with way too many mental lapses to play consistently solid football.

We just don't have the talent and depth on the line, yet.

This problem will take more than one year to solve. We are in deep, brother. Very deep trouble with the OL.
