Will BRees or Rivers be a Fin come Trade deadline?

We'll wait and see what happens next season re: draft class, free agency etc...I think the answer could possibly like in Brees (Via FA) and a 3rd or 4th round drafted QB (Orton or Orlovsky of next years class). If there are no quality free agents, I think we'll make a jump at the high order e.g. Leak, Young, Leinart, Jacobs but I think it's a sure bet IMO that we'll try seriously to sort this situation out next season.
A top tier rookie QB would be really nice, as you say Leinart, Young, Jacobs, Leak..

I also like Jay Cutler out of Vanderbilt and Charlie Whitehurst from Clemson.

No. Brees will kept long term by the Chargers and Rivers is garbage.

Yeah, he's complete trash :shakeno: Would you like me to put those words of wisdom in my sig like you did to KB? That guy has done a hell of a lot more for this site than you so I'm not quite sure why you're low-blowing him like that.

If I could understand what you were triing to say I would def argue with you but I think it is hopeless at this point.

:yeahthat: Plus i would add the word Bust next to rivers.

Bust? How do you come up with that? He hasn't even played. Inexeperienced and uproven.....yes......but bust? Come on.

I loved him at NC State.

I like Cutler a bit but Whitehurst is going to have to really show something this year. He was not so hot last season, yet, he was good the season before. Or course, he shouldn't have regressed but he was really unimpressive last season. Or course, since he did show some talent 2 years ago, perhaps he'll bounce back....I'm just not going to bet on it.

I like Palko better than Whitehurst by a good margin (although Palko is a jr so he may not come out). Not to keep slamming Charlie but I think Tye Gunn (another cool name for a QB) and the Porter guy from Boston College might also be a bette prospect. Again though, I guess a lot really depends on which Charlie Whitehurst shows up? :confused:

I would like 1 of the two to come to Fin land, Wat will it take to Lure 1 of the talented qbs. Ur thoughts?

It won't happen for 2 primary reasons this year:

1) salary cap - unless Miami has a player w/similiar SC conditions as either of there QBs it's almost impossible these days to pull of a trade where the unless $'s both players are similiar.

2) San Diego is still not convinced in what they have in Brees and have obvioulsy decided (since this year they had enough cap room) to make a decision on who to trade/let go next year

Brees= one year wonder
rivers= future of the chargers
leinart= just a simple no

No!

Am I the only one that likes Jacobs or McNeal better than Leinart? I'm not saying in terms of value, because obviously Leinart is better value at a higher pick, but if I had the choice between picking Leinart at 1 or Jacobs at 12, I'd go for Jacobs.

I whole heartedly agree with you on Jacobs. big time.

I also like Reggie but not so much in the 1st round anymore. I watched a couple of A&M tapes that a buddy of mine made (he's alumni) and the only thing that worries me about McNeal is that his arm isn't as strong as I thought it was. When he throws a deep out ball, he seemed to really have to push to get it there. I'm not an expert on the mechanics of throwing a football but I've reviewed enough tape of college players to kinda tell when a guy thowing a deep out is not totally at ease with the throw.

Now don't get me wrong, it's not like he severely struggles with it, it's just not his bread and butter type throw. If Reggie made it to our pick in the 2nd round.....I'd be all over him (provided of course he doesn't get hurt this year or anything else like that.....like totally sucking all of a sudden :D ) j\k I doubt that happens. :)

Now all that said, I still think that Overall Leinhart is currently the top QB prospect. Omar has got to put up anoher year like last season and likely even better to pass Leinhart (and he had a hell of a season, it'd be hard to top that, He'd have to pull out a Dytmer at BYU type of season...that might do it?) :confused:

Whitehurst is the kinda guy whose stock could go sky high a la Rivers/Smith if he does show.

he's got the talent, we saw it two years ago, he'd just gotta put it all together.

why trade for them this year? this team is not one piece away from greatness, and we'll have a shot at brees next year, or even Phillip if San Diego shops him around. But it doesn't make a whole lot of sense to bring someone else in right now, First, whoever we bring in will have to learn a whole new system, and second they'll have to work on cohesion with the other players, which is a problem with both Feeley and Gus right now, one knows the system, and the other knows the players.

Nope anybody brought in right now, will not make any difference until next year at BEST.

why not trade for them??? The Phins wouldn't be able to afford their salaries. Please stop this non-sense talk about getting either one of them. NOT going to happen!
