Will people BELIEVE in this team if they beat the Patriots in Week 1?

If we go 2-0 and lose to the Browns, it's back to square one.

It's hard to accept but there're almost no chances for Miami to win at week one.
As shown during two preseason games, New England Patriots look more than ready, while our team needs some time to adjust with new offense, several young starters and reconfigured o-line.
A close game could be enough to start the season in a good way.

I would get jacked if we beat them... even in a close one but it could quickly fade if we lay an egg week 2. I would be flying high for a week though.

While I won't be heading to Vegas prior to the game to load up on the Dolphins I disagree about Miami having no chance. Belechick doesn't have a lot of film on what we will be doing on offense which could lead to some surprises. It will be pretty hot down there, I think we should go no huddle to try to get Wilfork and Haynesworth sucking wind early. Do they have anyone to deal with bush underneath? Do they have an edge rusher who can challenge Jake Long?

Can we handle the rest of there front with Pouncey, InCognito and Carey? Will Fasano need to help Columbo in pass pro all night long? The biggest question, how good is this defense. I have to say I like Vontae's confidence but you can bet I'm going to start a thread Monday September 12th at around 10:30PM ripping him for his comments if Tom Brady lights us up like a christmas tree. Even if it's Welker taking Sapp to the woodshed in the slot. If Davis is so good he should be able to slide over and cover Welker like Revis does. Afterall there is a whole thread on here comparing the 2, I think we need to see Vontae go inside bfore we have a case. I seem to remember Sam Madison taking it upon himslef to shadow Marvin Harrison a while back as well.

New England could be the best team in football. As long as we play well, keep it close, and put up a legitimate fight, I will be happy (I think). It would be very Rocky-esque to play well but lose the first "fight", only to improve over the season and beat them in our second matchup.

Still, Miami has a REALLY good defense, better than New England's. I think our DBs match up against their WR's way better than theirs against ours. Also, JT knows how to get into Brady's head and grill. If our offense can score 24-28 points, we win.

It's gonna be Monday night and Marshall has something to prove, Henne has something to prove, the offensive line has something to prove. Basically , the entire Dolphins offense will be playing with a chip on their shoulder.

You can't give me due respect then say my statement is ignorant, it doesn't work that way. You're speaking for a lot of ignorant fans when you make a blanket statement like that.

If we won, I would bet a lot of money that we would still have fans that say "That was a fluke" and "No way can we repeat" and "This regime sucks" and "No way we can repeat with <insert name here> at <insert position here>. I think you underestimate the fans of this forum, unless you are one of those fans...

I said "and I say that lightly". Again, that is BS.

it'll make the national media start to actually look at the team, instead of say "well their HC and QB were almost replaced so they must suck"

i think when people really look at the team and the defense, and the changes to our offensive scheme, they would think higher of us already...

If we beat NE and Hou, then I think people start to realize just the **** we are. I dont watch ESPN anymore so I could give a **** what thay think.

Umm...I think I'd check the booze cabinet to make sure I didn't drink too much then pinch myself to make sure I didn't fall asleep after a fall behind of 21-0 in the 1st quarter....I really REALLY hope I have to do that ;)

I can see it now. JT getting his 1st sack on Brady on MNF and doing his little heart celebration. How awesome would that be?

let me tell you guys something, this is the NFL, any given week, anybody can get beat. its not really an indicator either way, though.

maybe we play out of our minds, its opening night, at home, MNF, etc... guys will be besides themselves. then again, maybe they come back down to earth week 2? wait for a trend to emerge, but I'll say this, this team in on the cusp. we beat some good teams on the road last year and for some reason couldn't get out of our own way at home. it doesn't make much sense, why play worse at home? it had to have been some mental thing, they choked at home, simply put. they seem to have a different attitude this year, though, even coach it talking trash, as much as he ever will, probably. lol

don't be surprised when the Dolphins surprise...
