With #7 Pick We Select Derrick Johnson

we dont need to draft Pac-Man or Rolle...we have Sam Madison, we may keep Surtain......but if we dont keep him, we still have Will Poole who is good. From the looks of it, a 3-4 defense for Miami looks to be in the making. I can imagine a:

Holliday, Carter, Taylor
Seau, Thomas, D.Johnson, Spragan
Madison, Surtain, Shazor/Tillman/Bua, T. Jones

If we go with a 3-4, we will have no reason to select a DT.

I think if we for some odd reason don't end up choosing a RB with the #7 we should get Derrick Johnson. I think he will be a beast in the pro's. Our LB's are alright now but to be honest Zach Attack and Seau are both on their way out. It would be nice to see a young talented LB in the mix.

In all respects I think we need to draft a RB at #7 but we wont be far off if we draft DJ!

what do you think?

Oh Gawd, I hope not!!!!

DJ is not a RB, so we would be far off.

Antrel Rolle, Marcus Spears and Shawne Merriman are all more phesible players on D. I like Derrick, he is a hell of an athlete, but I cannot see us getting him.

If we wind up with #7 and #18, I'd hope for:

#7 - Cadillac Williams
#18 - Marcus Spears, Mark Clayton, or Marlin Jackson

Caddy and the 2nd coming of Mark Clayton would be sweet.

Let me guess, you think Cedric Benson is our only choice this year right? Or a RB at the very least?.....OK jump, because your clueless. DJ would be a great choice at #7. I guess a speedy tackling machine on the weak side would be something that wouldn't interest you. Saban's a D guy get used to it.

I'm clueless becasue I think Johnson is overrated (like a lot of teams and scouts do) and I think he is'nt the best linebacker prospect in the draft (like a lot of teams and scouts do).

What is the WEAKEST part of our team? Running back.

Where is the strength of the draft in the top 10? Running back.

Saban's a defensive guy? I never would have guessed that! Considering my mock draft basically has us drafting defense the rest of the way after our first pick I think I already knew that, and I think I know what this team needs to do.

Johnson @ #7 is a reach.

the people here just go with the tide, someone said DJ is overrated now they all hate him... DJ would be perfect at number 7 and will be a force in this league... they all expect him to be bigger and stronger than offensive lineman and be able to manhandle them, haha right like ray lewis and zach thomas are doing that on the daily...

they dont realize if we have good DL play a roaming LB is the one who makes plays and TOs ala ray lewis...

Well I don't think we should take DJ at #2,I do think he would be a perfect choice at #7 as for your comment above...thank god Saban understands this!! And for the ala Ray lewis, more like Teddy Bruski!

I think Ray and Zach would be offended for someone using them in the defense of Derrick Johnson. When you aren't in the top 3, and have no reason to just grab the BPA because he is there, then you have to analyze who the best players left are that help your team.....Derrick Johnson at that pick isn't one of them.

The only time BPA is feasible is when you have a shot at the top player in the draft or when there really isn't anyone left that you need, so you grab the BPA on the board.

the weakest part of our team is NOT runningback...we have sooo much depth at runningback:

Gordon
Minor
Morris
Evans
Martin
Moa
Henry

Our biggest weakness is offensive line and QB. IMO

No your clusess because you don't do your homework and rely on other opinions. I've read ands watched this guy play. He has the skill, speed and intelligence to play anywhere in a good system . He has just as good of nubers as Ray Lewis coming out of college except DJ is a turnover machine.

As for our biggest need being RB!?!?!? Once again cluless. I don't think you understand the new system we will be running. If we take a RB, it will be because he will be the best player on the board and if we choose at 2, none of the backs are the best player at that spot. So we will be drafting BPA. I guess Lamar Gordon is a bust? Gee I don't know, but I guess you know. I'm not about to predict who we will take, but by process of elimination and knowing the kind of coaching staff we have and what they like to do RB doesn't seem very likely if we stay at #2. If we trade down to #7 and R.Brown and DJ are both still on the board then maybe, just maybe there is a slight chance we take brown but my money would be on DJ.

look at the guys that you have named, BTW Henry is a Jet.

That is why it is our biggest weakness. RB is without a doubt our weakness. Our lack of a decent RB closes up our O.

just because there are many players for this position it does not mean we are deep in a good way.

similarly... we are very deep at Oline, but you list that as a weakness.

our offensive line IS a weakness...unless we added a good Center or Guard without myself knowing it.

McIntosh
James
McKinney
Carey
McDougle

The only guys on that line that i am confident in are McDougle and James. McKinney and McIntosh are a mistake. Id like to draft Barron/Khalif Barnes/ or Jammal Brown to fill the LT spot, and David Baas to fill the Center/Guard spot.
