With The First Pick In the 2017 NFL Draft

I agree with the sentiment, but that doesn't mean you reach. If they aren't in position for the top 3, you don't reach. That's how you end up with a Tannehill instead of a Kuechly.

Oh I agree....but you have to take shots to find him....Kuechly doesn't impact the team as much as Newton, Brees or Rodgers....would it have been considered reaching to take Brees over Jamar Fletcher?....Rodgers over Ronnie Brown?

I personally don't think any of the QB's coming out this draft are worthy of a top pick. Kizer, Watson, and Kaaya all appear to be duds IMO. we have so many holes to fill I would rather trade back and grab an extra 2nd rounder. We need secondary bad. We need LB bad. We need OL bad. We need pass rusher bad. I mean literally the only position we seem to be comfortable at is WR. Other than the WR core and Rashad Jones this team is mediocre at best. Our DL are old and washed up. Our LB are no namers...although I will say Alonso would be worth keeping. And our secondary is by far the worst in the league. This team is so far behind in talent it's unreal. We just keep replacing head coaches thinking the next one will make a diamond with coal. It's just not happening.

This teams problem starts from the top. Ross, although I can see he wants to win and loves this team, has 0 NFL knowledge and should have no input on how to make or run a team. He wants to be owner? fine but own from a distance. Get a GM who knows what the hell he is doing. Tannenbaum took a Jets team that was good and almost made the super bowl and turned them into a dumpster till they finally got rid of him.

Blow it up

You sound like Dave Wannstedt justifying passing on Brees....Saban passing on Rodgers...Parcells passing on Matt Ryan.

None of it matters without the QB.

Of course you have to evalute what QB's are available in the draft....and you don't ignore red flags...but no QB is a sure thing coming out of college.

Why does this team always manage to get a Top 5 pick in weak QB class years?

The only time they've actually been in position to draft a transformative QB was the Brees draft (where he was drafted in 2nd round) and the Rodgers draft (where many people had questions about him and he slid) and the infamous Matt Ryan draft.

maybe the point you should be taking from those two drafts is that every qb is going to have questions coming out, and sometimes, when you're stuck in neutral, you need to do your best to find a qb you can work with and take a shot....

I know everyone is clamoring for a quarterback, but I'd go with Garrett. He is the best player in the draft and also at a position of need. The Dolphins need young talent on the defensive line and Garrett would be a step in the right direction to building the defense.

Tannehill isn't elite, but I don't think he's as bad as many are making him out to be. No running game and no defense makes it easy for teams to simply pin their ears back and rush the passer. No team is worried about Miami running on them. That's a tough formula for any quarterback.

If the team ends up picking a little lower, Foster from Alabama would be a nice enforcer for the linebacking crew. I also like Fournette as a physical running back who I think would make a big immediate impact.

Tannehill has elite physical ability and arm....but he lacks that killer instinct....that is why I am now convinced we will never win anything that matters with him....just doesn't have "it".

Honestly, I don't know if he has killer instinct or not. What I do know is their is a blueprint out there on him that knows he struggles with pocket movement and improvising and teams are on top of it every week until he shows he can handle it.
