Worst trade...EVER

Wow. People think AJ Feeley was bad, but Lamar Gordon = WAY worst. Jeezum.

Worst ever? I don't think so. To back up my argument I present:

1st round pick for Rob Johnson
1st round pick for Drew Bledsoe
1st round pick for Rick Mirer

I'm sure there are hundreds more.

Imagine if we didn't trade for Feeley or Gordon.

We probably would have lost at least one more with Sage then with Feeley. Then we would have the number one draft pick. We would have picked Alex Smith because we would have the number 1 pick. In the second round we could have picked Matt Roth and either Brodney Poole, Shaun Cody, Stanfourd Routt, Josh Bullocks, Michael Roos, Kevin Burnett, Odell Thurman ETC. In the third we could have picked Channing Crowder and all the other guys that have been mentioned. Imagine the possibilities.

Somebody should go back and check what could have happened if we just never hired Wanny.

C'mon now....I do think he was exagerating a bit.

Everyone talks about how bad the Feeley trade was when the Gordon trade was just as bad.

I think the point was that the Gordon trade was *worse*, and I agree with that premise. Gordon is soft. At least AJ serves as a decent backup.

I'm glad somebody feels the same way about Gordon as I do. He has been with us for about a year now, and his longest run has been 11yds. Travis Minor is alot better option for us than Gordon is or ever will be.

Is the Gordon trade WORSE.......yes
Are both trades bad.................yes

I think that sums up everyones opinion on this!

I think they were both equally bad. Gordon is worthless while he cost us a 3rd. Feeley is good to be a backup but he cost us a much valued second round pick. In some strange twisted way I think it balances out to be equal. :hmmm:

Feeley trade by far was worst....

2nd rounder for that scrub was pathetic.

Yeah and even worse than those was the Herschel Walker for an entire draft(or just about it)

I think the overall Feeley selection was worse because he got an expensive new deal, but I stand by my analysis of the trades on their own without considering that deal. Teams spend 2nd round picks on backup QBs with decent regularity. It did suck that it was such a high pick, but thems the breaks.

How about Lou Brock for...wait, who was Lou Brock traded for again?

Jeff Bagwell for Larry Andersen.
Who did Edmonton get for Wayne Gretzky from LA?

Did the trades suck? Yes.

But we still would have sucked last year if they weren't made and considering how hit-and-miss draft picks are, you can't say that any of those guys definitely is a difference-maker. It was just another bump in the road of the Wannspiel Era. And we can't take it back.

I don't think you can compare MLB or NBA trades (though you don't mention NBA trades) to NFL trades. Bagwell for Andersen makes no sense in the football world but actually kind of made sense at the time in the baseball world.

CK, if you pass the ball to Gordon he loses 3, if you hand it off to him he loses 2. He really bites, just godawful. Feeley shows no command at the QB position. I believe nothing good will ever come from either of these 2 guys. I wish we had Orton or Frye instead of what were stuck with at QB. At least Rickey looked like he shook off some rust and was decisive and powerful. Let's get Ronnie in camp and ride the Gus bus as far as he can take us. At least he's a veteran who can lead the team, manage the games and get the ball to Chambers, Boston etc. By the way I see progress on the o-line, especially Carey. Man, 27-3, where is my air sickness bag?

Let's just bring this up to drive home the Gordon point:

R. Williams 6 39 0 13
T. Minor 2 10 0 9
S. Morris 3 10 0 4
L. Gordon 2 1 0 2

One of these players is not like the others. One of these players just doesn't belong.
