Worst WR core in league

I personally think our recievers will surprise people.

I know Cunningham and Matthews was both late picks but they both produced in college and put up some numbers that caught my eyes.

In the West Coast we really dont need a number 1 like everyone thinks. We need good route runners with hands which we got! We also need a Tight End who can stretch the field, another thing we got....

I can deal with Hartline,Cunningham,Bess,Gates,Naanee,Matthews,Egnew,Fasano,Clay all day for our recievers!

Our Backs will also open up the passing game and that being said we also have a back who has great hands out of the back field.

Name the last "alpha" receiver to win a Super Bowl? Moss, nope. TO? Nope. Fitzgerald? Nope.

In the west coast scheme you don't need big on the outside receivers. You need guys with quickness who can get into space, find holes in the defense, and run good routes.

Well be fine. The Patriots win the division every year not because of their outstanding receivers.

Receivers are so overrated.

Hakeem Nicks, Victor Cruz, Greg Jennings, Marques Colston, Marvin Harrison and Reggie Wayne just in the last few Superbowls. The 3 you named have made it to Superbowls. We haven't been to one in 27 years. And if you don't think the Patriots have been winning since 2007 because of Welker, Moss, and now Gronkoswki and Hernandez having a HUGE reason to do with it. Well....

You need playmakers. Not mediocre possession WR's. There's a reason the teams that are winning have them. Several of them. We don't. Hell, I'd settle for mediocre right now that's how bad our WR's are.

Your opinion, but I'm sure most would agree they aren't awful. Again, not the best group in the league, but it's still a young squad that has shown flashes and I'm not surprised if one of 'em is ready to bust out, especially without a certain diva receiver to take away their touches.

We're going to wish we had a diva WR to take away their touches by week 3 at the latest. Most see WR as our biggest need after trading Marshall. That's because our current WR's are awful. Bess is a slot WR. Hartline is a #4 WR at best on a contending team. Nobody else has done a thing in the NFL, and aside from possibly Gates, most likely won't do a thing in the NFL.

I am positive you will be fine with our recievers mid way through the season.... Go ahead and sig me.

Speak for yourself, man. A diva WR won't be part of Philbin's offense, that's for sure. I have a feeling we may not be done with this group, though. Either way, I think our receivers will be fine.

Hartline may be due for a breakout year. He had something like 540 yards on 35 touches...that's a great average. He could easily double his catches and be in 1,000+ yard territory. Bess, yes he's a slot receiver but the guy has been nothing but clutch for us on 3rd downs. Legadu and Gates are wait and see.

The rooks...well can't say much for them yet but they were very productive in their senior years at college combining for over 2600 yards and 20 TDs. You also gotta remember RBs and TEs are going to be a big part of the passing game in this offense.

Bet you were saying the same thing a few years back in the Saints forum when it came to that 7th round WR from of all places Adelphi. Did you say "Adelphi" ?????? WTF!!!!!!!
Hofstra, my alma mata. Adelphi doesn't have a football team.

I'm no draft expert, but I bet next year's WRs will be better than this year's if not as plentiful. Why waste a pick this year on a WR that will take 2 to 3 years to develop (only Blackmon and Floyd, I think, are NFL ready) when there are a greater numbers of studs coming out next year; players that can make instant contributions.

Personally, I'm hoping for Tavon Austin.

Please will you guys stop with the "West Coast Offense does not need a alpha receiver" myth. I can name a lot of alpha receivers in the WCO (Jerry Rice, Terrell Owens). Now name me a great passing attack using the West Coast Offense witha poor receiving core.

We drafted talented players at other position that were available. If there was the same level of talent available at receiver as there were at other position when we pick, we would of drafted them.

I know a lot are happy with Tannehill but who will he throw to? Hartline or Wallace would be a #4 on 85% of the teams. And Ireland has done absolutely nothing to help this :(

Are you saying Clyde Gates and Roberto Wallace can never get any better? We have some young WRs on the sideline that need a chance to play. Why don't you chill out and give them a chance???

Go tell it to Joe Philbin. He's the one that said it.

It isn't a great receiving corps. And we aren't competing in 2012. Lets just hope the fans have patience enough for Tannehill in 2013

All the fans defending this group, we all know its not very great. its going to be a struggle this year. but its ok because next year we will draft more and in 2013 tannehill will start. Next year is a stopgap year

When we got Marshall we figured we finally got it set..... How'd that work?... Let it play out.

Yeah, the Dolphins won 6 of their last 9 games last season. Marshall still got over 1,000 yards even with all the drops and idi0tic penalties.

We didn't lose the first 7 games because we lacked WRs. The coaching staff has to take the blame for most of those losses. The same team that played the 2nd half of the season played the first. Moore was an obvious upgrade from Henne, but Henne pretty much lit up the pats defense on opening night last year. Too many people post based on what the press has to say and not based on actually watching the games.

I don't think it's a stretch of the imagination to look at our current corps and objectively come to the conclusion that it's probably one of the five least talented squads in the NFL.

With that said, I'm not really worried about it. You can't fix all your problems in one year, and we just had a very quality draft that plugged a few holes. Next year we'll look to upgrade the receiver position, and probably the safety position as well. I think we're one free-agency/draft away from being a very competitive ball club.

It would only take one high level addition to turn that around. There's no reason to flip out over the mediocrity of our WR corp when our future QB isn't even ready to see the field yet. Cruz will probably hit the market right around the time Tannehill is ready to see some action.

You can't be serious. Hakeem Nicks/Victor Cruz in 2012, Greg Jennings in 2011, Marques Colston in 2010, Plaxico Burress in 2009, Reggie Wayne/Marvin Harrison in 2007 all say hello

We havent played 1 game yet. This draft was pretty good and all you can do is negative? Let this offensive group do some work, If they thought these guys were horrible we would have went WR earlier. I wish sometimes I could do 2 thumbs down with a kick to the arse.
