Would you still consider Ross to be a shrewd businessman?

BottomLine: After the Garbageman

**gave us a lazy JJ operating on 2 cylinders while standing silently by as Mr Penile Girth abused the greatest player in franchise history,

**agreed to promote the former worst HC in the NFC and then kept him 2 years too long,

**permitted a little Napoleanic douche bully to fritter away his money on tents and league leading number of assistants while enabling him to run roughshod over him

**bequeathed us the ignomy of a 1-15 Cam Cameron "What Me Worry?" season, and of course,

**Backed up the Brinks Truck for a rancid Tuna and then ensured he gets paid a kings ransom for golfing on weekends up in Jupiter.

I'd say, in consideration of what we've endured as fans, by his intent, no matter how sloppily carried out by a newbie owner, Ross has done enough to more than retain the Honeymoon status for at least 1 or 2 more seasons!

So you don't know anything for a fact, then. That's all I wanted to hear you say. Not Ross's family background, and how much he may or may not have been helped out by his uncle, not his business dealings (Most of which are history and have proven to be good deals, as he's retained his wealth through one of the worst times to be in real estate in history) and really, no business transaction.

Where there's smoke there's fire, unless the smoke are things that are positive about Ross.

All of my opinions of Ross are based on observations I have made on how he has operated the Dolphins. I can't even think of a single instance where he has given me any confidence in his abilities as a businessman. When he speaks, I shudder. He does not sound like a person that is in command.

Even if he does signs here it is still a bad hire! Unfortunately for us the HC crop like the QB crop is sparce this year.

What exactly do I need a excuse for? I haven't claimed were missed a good coach. I was deadset against Mularkey so thats is laughable. So I needs a excuse if Fisher signs here? Like I just it is a bad hire that no one would want if Cowher, Gruden, or Dungy were in play!

Public speaking capability really has nothing to do with business acumen or professional competence, though.

Which are your opinons which you project into others. Not fact. The things I've seen are mainly good, and I've been yet to be shown how they are negative in any conclusive manner.

Some people would say retaining Parcells....Even though at the time nearly everyone was crapping on themselves because they thought he was going to make Parcells bail...Which would've been the best thing in retrospect.

B list celeb owners.....Like the Estephans...Who are uncommonly successful businesspeople...The Williams sisters who are champions in their chosen professions, and damn good businesspeople themselves...JLo/Antony....Again, wildly successful at what they do... I've never seen anything bad about this...

The orange carpet....It's carpet. What's wrong with Carpet in team colors? The only reason my house isn't in team colors is my wife wouldn't let me.

Multiple stadium naming deals......Even though that brings in revenue....

*Shrugs* I don't see he's done anything more than be an owner trying to pursue every possible angle to make the team better.

I dont think any of those things are bad things.

So someone on this board doesnt like orange carpets? Well they can **** off instead of going to the internet to bash the owner. The carpet in my office is grey - I dont like it - but I'm not about to call my financeer "aloof" or "lacking business saviness"

If you don't need an excuse then nobody does really. I tend to agree. Is the candidate you want most still availiable?

Ross' greatest hits of embarrassment:

1. Urging the NFL to schedule night games in September / October to negate our competitive advantage
2. Stressing importance on glitz off the field, rather than substance on the field.
3. Comparing Chad Henne to Dan Marino
4. The handling of Sparano during the pursuit of Harbaugh
5. The careless and wreckless way he pursued Harbaugh
6. Signing off on Tim Tebow worship day
7. Kowtowing to his BFF Carl Peterson
8. "Young Don Shula"
9. Split coaching searches
10. Allowing himself to be played and held hostage by a coach with 6 winning seasons in 16.

4, 5 and 6 are fair criticisms. The rest I don't really agree with or I think are speculation.

About the 1pm games? Our team was so out of shape and so poorly conditioned at the start of the season that I think he probably did us a favor on that one.

I'd say a few of those were a fuss about nothing. This one isn't though:-

Giving Sparano a new contract when it was clear he wasn't satisfied with him as a head coach. That's pretty dumb and of course it hit him in the pocket when he had to pay Sparano 3 years for < 1 year's work

What advantage would that be?
2. Stressing importance on glitz off the field, rather than substance on the field.
Where has he done this? It's his job to handle stuff off the field. What's wrong with glitz? How could he have stressed substance on the field? Did you want him to put on pads or something? Football people are responsible for product on the field, not owners..Unless you are Al Davis.

3. Comparing Chad Henne to Dan Marino
He didn't. His quote was not comparing the two. He simply stated he hoped Chad Henne could be the best QB the Dolphins ever had.
Hell, I hoped so too. But that's not a "comparison"

4. The handling of Sparano during the pursuit of Harbaugh
5. The careless and wreckless way he pursued Harbaugh
How was he supposed to handle him? Did he know it would hurt TS's feelings? Sure. Who cares? Tony got a raise and a new contract out of it, and was obviously not to hurt to stay. Or should he simply not have gone after the guy that has proven to be the best candidate for the position.

6. Signing off on Tim Tebow worship day
So what? What did that hurt? What measurable impact did that have. Facts, not opinions.

7. Kowtowing to his BFF Carl Peterson
How?

8. "Young Don Shula"
I'd like to have a young Don Shula too.

9. Split coaching searches
There isn't. That was speculation. The search for a coach will result in one candidate.

10. Allowing himself to be played and held hostage by a coach with 6 winning seasons in 16.

He's not. He's making every effort to get who he considers best for the job. What candidates have been hired elsewhere that
you wanted as HC?

He did what he had to do to keep Tony on. It's his money, he can spend it how he wants to. How did that hurt the Dolphins when he's showing now that he'll spend more money than anyone else if necessary to land the best HC candidate availiable.

How did it hurt the Dolphins giving Sparano a new contract ? Is that a serious question ?

Dont think im qualified or more importantly dont have the information to judge him as a business man, as a football owner he has not been overly impressive but just because you are good at business does not make you a good owner. These owners purchase the teams for prestige, I think his decision to pursue a coach with a coach still here was a bad one, His extension of a coach that had a year left on his contract was a bad decision and his ignorance to only look at one coach last year, i mean if you are not satisfied with you coach there are plenty of people better than Sparano
