Would you trade Jake Long to get RG3?

Now that Mort and Schefter have reported that we want to get RG3, what would you be willing to give up to the Rams for that pick? With Jake Long coming into the final year of his contract, mounting injuries, and the Rams needing a left tackle, would you entertain this idea? John Jerry stepped in for Long this year and played pretty good, proving that a LT is important yes but not as important as people think, I'm not saying that Jerry would take over LT, we good get somebody in free agency or find one later in the draft. Maybe giving up jake would offset having to give up so many picks, it would look like this:

Jake Long
1st round pick 2012
3rd round pick 2012
2nd round pick 2013
4th round pick 2013

Rams give us: 2nd overall pick 2012-we take RG3
7th round pick 2012

If we trade Long for the 2 pick, there is no way I'd give up that many draft picks as well. I'd trade Long if the trade went like this:

Dolphins get - 2nd overall pick 2012
Rams get - 8th or 9th overall 2012
Jake Long
2013 2nd round pick

Now, I think that we can get this deal done without giving up Long because the Rams actually have good bookend tackles (when healthy) and I think they'd rather get a lot of picks. They have more needs than we do.

I'd give up: 2012 1st, 2nd, and 4th
2013 1st

IMO that would get it done, but I don't know.

Yes I would. Why the hell u want a LT if don't even have a ****ing QB? Are the Packers in the playoffs thanks to A-Rod or ****ing Bulaga?

No way. Way too much to give up. Jake, 1st Rd pick in 12 and 2nd rd pick in 13.

Ship em. Other than his performance against jared allen two years ago jake long is not special. Gets beat by speedy pass rushers. Id rather have a qb and draft another linemen. Linemen are a dime a dozen. Qbs are not.

Bulaga is the key for the Packers success not Aaron Rodgers.

Yeah, don't these people know anything? You gotta build the team from the inside out! It's all about big linemen and slow white playmaking tight ends! DUH!!!

First off, Bulaga is a RT not a LT. The Packers left tackle to start the year was Chad Clifton. He got hurt and they have rotated 2-3 different guys there and they have been fine. Here is your answer guys and please listen closely.

Today's game is one of passing the ball, I get it. However, what do the Packers do better than anyone with a make-shift line. They pass the ball. So how do they do it with a crappy line? They run quick short patterns and let their receivers make plays. Now, every once in a while teams will get out of the blitz package to take away the short passes and low and behold what happens, they hit a deep pass. Jordy Nelson had 3 long tds over 50 yards this year but they were all on passes less than 10 yards! If you get rid of the ball quickly it eliminates the need for your offensive line to hold their blocks for a long period of time. Therefore, you don't need to have the highest paid offensive linemen in the game to make it work.

Answer me this - Who is the Highest paid Lineman on the Packers? - Exactly without looking nobody can name him!

By not overpaying for Offensive lineman they have spent their money on QB, WR, LB and DB's which is where the big money should be spent. All other positions in honesty can be plug and play positions. Not elite but good enough to win games!

Jake Long=Tony Boceli

Great player who will have his career cut very short due to injuries. If we can move him for a franchise QB, then YES!!! Especially if it saves a draft pick. Long has a bad knee, shoulder, and back. Walking Wounded!

Lol. I hear on every sports outlet about how the green bay tackles have single handedly got them to wher they are. *rolls eyes* gtfoutta here lmao its all on the quarterback. The part miami doesnt have. And when we do. And he plays well. We win. Who woulda thought?

There is no sense in giving up our elite LT to move up for a guy just because he is a QB. RGIII is not worth the risk. It'd be worth doing for Andrew Luck because he is a better prospect than RGIII. The chances of Luck becoming an elite QB in the NFL are pretty high. Can you really say the same for RGIII? What happens if RGIII is a bust in this league? We'd lose a bolt load of picks and Jake because we gave up far too much. If you could guarentee RGIII would be as good as Aaron Rodgers then of course we'd do it, but you can't.

Jake, or anybody else for that matter, would be worth giving up for Luck. I'd rather not trade away our draft or high draft picks + one of our best players for Griffin. Matt Moore showed me enough last season that he could be very effective this upcoming season if some gaps on the OL are filled.

Luck can be a bust too, there are no guarantees in the draft.

Clearly, but Luck is a better prospect and worth trading whatever it takes to get (within reason at least). Robert Griffin III is not.

In my opinion, of course.

I understand what you are saying, but anybody you have to move up for in this scenario carries the risk of being a bust, including Luck. Many can't miss QB prospects, such as Ryan Leaf, Akili Smith, Jamarcus Russell, Brady Quinn etc., have failed miserably. I'm not saying Luck will follow this path, but if you gave up what you would have to in order to get him or RGIII either one and they did'nt work out, you will have greatly diminished your chance to acquire talent in other spots for the next couple years. Sometimes the risk is worth it and thats what you must come to terms with. Is that the case in your current situation.

Green bays last six first round draft picks have been OT's,DT's and LB's.
