WVDolphan's Get Real - 2014 Season Preview

Really?!?! As far as being better we'll have to wait and see as Matt Ryan is entering his 7th year, but as far as being a comparable QB... well let's take a look at their first two years for comparison.

............................G GS Comp Att Pct Yds Avg TD Int Sck SckY Rate

2013 Miami Dolphins 16 16 355 588 60.4 3,913 6.7 24 17 58 399 81.7
2012 Miami Dolphins 16 16 282 484 58.3 3,294 6.8 12 13 35 234 76.1

2009 Atlanta Falcons 14 14 263 451 58.3 2,916 6.5 22 14 19 92 80.9
2008 Atlanta Falcons 16 16 265 434 61.1 3,440 7.9 16 11 17 104 87.7

Matt Ryan obviously played with a better o-line. MR took a step back in his 2nd year while RT continued to progress behind the worst line in franchise history. Overall, pretty comparable. I'd say, Tannehill is right on track, if not possible on a better one.

Matt Ryan first 2 years: 84.3 QB Rating, 38 TDs, 25 INTs, 11 fumbles

Ryan Tannehill first 2 years: 78.9 QB Rating, 36 TDS, 30 INTs, 18 fumbles.

How is that better? It's comparable, but in no way are those better #s.

Also Tannehill played in 2 more games than Ryan in their second years.

It's just annoying that people have unrealistic expectations for Tannehill. Get his dick out of your mouth. He's undoubtedly the best Quarterback this franchise has had since Marino, but by no means is he the second coming of him. If they put a good enough team around him he can take them to a Super Bowl. The team is improved but hasn't reached those heights yet.

:bobdole: But it's ok to fellate over a QB with one playoff win in 7 years and who led his team to 4-12 record? Top 10 QBs don't do that no matter what weapons he does or doesn't have.

Someone here has an odd affinity with all this twig and berry talk and screen name... and it's not us.

Touché

I'm not anti-Tannehill. I just feel that some have unrealistic expectations for him. That's all. I wasn't trying to troll or get into heated arguments. I just think it's silly that anyone would rather have Tannehill over MR as their QB. If they disagree that's their prerogative.

Their offensive line and running game was almost as bad as Miami's last year. Their defense couldn't stop a nosebleed, and the only good player they had on defense was Desmond Trufant. Julio and Roddy were injured. He didn't even play bad last year..

That's what I said. "comparable". I actually said that 3 times. 1. comparable QB 2. comparison 3. pretty comparable. :idk:

Never said that's better. I said, "as far as being better we'll have to wait and see as MR is entering his 7th year.

You OK over there?

You said he is on a comparable, if not better track. I disagree.

Damn right we have expectations. Super Bowl, baby!

BTW, T-hill didn't play bad last year either and he improved in his 2nd year (unlike MR) while helping the Dolphins to an 8-8 record (not 4 and ****ing 12)

There is nothing to disagree with there. Comparing their first 2 years Ryan Tannehill is essentially on a better track and didn't take a dive in his development. That being behind (man, this gets old repeating) the worst line in the league and franchise history and without missing a game due to injury despite getting annihilated.

Honestly, do you think that the Falcons would have had a better record with Tannehill? And the Dolphins would have been worse with Ryan?

I hear ya, I just can't say. T-hill is entering his 3rd year behind a brand new offense. I don't know where MR stands with his offensive coordinator but he's a vet in his 7th year.

That said, I sure as hell hope Tannehill has more than one playoff after 6 full years. We'll see.

Same here brotha. I hope Tannehill becomes the best quarterback in the league. However, I just don't think that will happen. Definitely rooting for him.

Melty's pre game motivational internal dialogue:
"I have Julio back and can again depend on him and Roddy carrying me cuz there's no pressure at this point to win or go home. I've done it before with my allstars-at least in season and I can maybe get them past game 16 again if my elite players stay healthy. And THAT'might take Mr Black's mind off paying me over $100mil for one barely-eked out playoff win. "

Yeah Hester sucks for sure! Who said that? I won't even get into the qb clinic on display tonight!

Who was the guru that said Hester sucks? His NFL record 20th return td says hi!
