WVDolphan's Get Real - 2014 Season Preview

Tannehill chocked the last 2 games to get his opportunity. 7 points in two games, couldn't beat an undrafted 3rd stringer who isn't even on a roster now (twice), or a rookie QB.

Ya don't say??????

Obviously. My point is he is more of a choke artist than Matt Ryan because he couldn't put up more than 7 points and beat an undrafted, unemployed 3rd string qb, or a rookie QB to even make it.

The Falcons might be 1-4 in the playoffs with Ryan, but his #s aren't bad at all.

66.31% Completion %, 9 TD, 7 INT, 85.2 QB Rating in 5 games.

And if you look at his #s vs. SEA and SF, two of the top defenses in 2012 the #s look even more impressive.

70.17% Completion %, 6 TD, 3 INT, 104.25 QB Rating... vs. two of the best two defenses in the league.... yeah Matt Ryan totally sucks... anyone who would rather have Ryan Tannehill over Matt Ryan doesn't know anything about football and needs to stick to playing their Madden Dynasties where Tannehill leads the Dolphins to a 19-0 season.

You sound like BSPN, "Manning vs Brady.", "Brees vs Ryan." or now, "Tannehill vs Lewis"... gfto

While all the while forgetting the most important aspect of the football: team work. Tannehill failed in the last two games as much as the team did. Period. End of story.

We are all aware that Tom Brady doesn't suck (not completely). But guess what? He sure looks pedestrian when put behind a bad line that can't pass protect or run block.

C'mon, you're better than this petty argument.

It's the ultimate team game. You don't have to convince me that. Undoubtedly quarterback's get too much praise for wins, and too much criticism for loses. But it is asinine to say Ryan Tannehill is a better quarterback than Matt Ryan.

Hmmm, referencing PFF stats for his Anti-Tannehill agenda. Where have we seen THIS game before? "The numbers don't add up!" I like your join date, btw.

Care to join us here in 2014???

you mean where Matt Ryan completed 72.1% of his passes for 448 yards, 3 touchdowns and no picks, 128.8 QB rating against a superior defense?

Compared to Tannehill's #'s: 56.3 completion %, 178 yards, 2 touchdowns, 1 pick and a 79.9 QB Rating against an inferior defense?

No that would be pro football reference... you can also get those same stats on any other site..... good try though

I don't think Tannehill is a bad quarterback. He's just not a good one. He's just a game manager, but I would still take him over Andy Dalton.

Really?!?! As far as being better we'll have to wait and see as Matt Ryan is entering his 7th year, but as far as being a comparable QB... well let's take a look at their first two years for comparison.

............................G GS Comp Att Pct Yds Avg TD Int Sck SckY Rate

2013 Miami Dolphins 16 16 355 588 60.4 3,913 6.7 24 17 58 399 81.7
2012 Miami Dolphins 16 16 282 484 58.3 3,294 6.8 12 13 35 234 76.1

2009 Atlanta Falcons 14 14 263 451 58.3 2,916 6.5 22 14 19 92 80.9
2008 Atlanta Falcons 16 16 265 434 61.1 3,440 7.9 16 11 17 104 87.7

Matt Ryan obviously played with a better o-line. MR took a step back in his 2nd year while RT continued to progress behind the worst line in franchise history. Overall, pretty comparable. I'd say, Tannehill is right on track, if not possible on a better one.

It's just annoying that people have unrealistic expectations for Tannehill. Get his dick out of your mouth. He's undoubtedly the best Quarterback this franchise has had since Marino, but by no means is he the second coming of him. If they put a good enough team around him he can take them to a Super Bowl. The team is improved but hasn't reached those heights yet.
