if you honestly believe if we were able to retain Jake, this WHOLE thing about Martin would have blown up? remember he tried to give more money to Jake but Jake left...
there are a potential SIX Tackles and 3 Guards coming out in the first round...you could miss and still pick a great one....not to mention you have another 2 more possible good tackles in Seantreal Henderson and James Hurst in the second....

no matter WHO the GM is we have great choices going forward....plus 29 M to to back up the brink truck to Grimes, and sign whoever else Philbin feels will help this team

Jake Long wasnt the right pick at the time and he wasn't worth the money to resign because of his injury issues and decline in pay. Long was a huge failure by Ireland/Parcells. Its not like Long and Martin were the only LT available in the offseason. Having great choices available doesn't matter if you have an incompetent GM, which he as proven over and over and over to be. I just don't get you people, what has Ireland ever done to create this unfounded loyalty to him???????????????????????????????????????

Ok...i have been flagged before for attacking posters...i won't. clearly you seen that i said I don't care either way....clearly you see that i said that any GM can come in and MISS and pick a good tackle.....but how on earth did Ireland miss on Jake Long? who was given a LOWER rookie contract than the first round pick in the previous year, that matched all of the incentives in the deal and made bank off being a pro bowler...like i said I'm not going to attack you as a poster I'm sure your a great guy...your just misguided.

and if your too busy to peak into the draft forum or pay attention to any draft website you will see that this is an oline rich draft,

if you haven't noticed Ireland has been trying to take a layered approach to off seasons...

you get the QB

then you put weapons around him

then you put protection around him

all in the middle your actually filling gaps and forcing people to step up and finding gems/or busts in the mean time.

again for the record i don't care whether he is the GM OR NOT...i can't stress that enough but whoever the GM is, has a CLEAR CUT mission in the front of him with plenty of cap to spare..and all of that is Ireland

if your referring to picking Matt Ryan..your living in the past bro, STOP IT. you think Demitroff is happy paying Ryan 20 M per year and only wining 4 games?

What the hell did J Long ever do for us? Is he still here? Nothing and No are your answers - he wasn't worth the first pick. Ireland has failed at every turn. As bad as he is in general, he especially sucks at OL.

there were three possible picks, Jake, Chris Long and Matt Ryan...we got the better of the three...and No Jake is no longer with us because he neglected to resign with the team on his volition. WHO IN GODS name else were we going to pick that year?

and your saying what did Jake Long ever do for us? ask Tannehill if he misses Jake Long this year

How would tannehill know? Jake was always hurt. Just like he is again this year.

We paid Long a TON of money, he was always hurt, we sucked as a team with him and he is no longer with our team, yet he was a good pick?

One bad thing is it probably cost us a playoff appearance this season...

man if ANYONE blames Ireland for the team playing flat in two games against a team that we almost beat and a team we CRUSHED...you sir...have an issue

if I'm not mistaken the only time he was hurt was last year?

Last I checked there are 16 games in a season, if anybody believes a good left tackle wouldn't have improved the team (IE GIVE US MORE OF A CHANCE TO WIN) then I do have a problem.

Neo Ireland stoping bullets like a boss

I wonder if we'd be any better if Ireland just did the opposite for every decision?
