You will never guess Omar Kelly's Phins 1st pick

Was thinking of you the other day when coming across a postseason stat regarding QBs with 4 or more starts having the worst records.
3 guesses who was the worst of the worst :idk: Any clutch-gene QBs who could rise to the occasion in this draft for that team before those elite skilled tools get totally squandered?

What you say is exactly why McCarron will go in the late 1st round or early 2nd.

If Bortles were there at 19, we would be foolish not to take him. He wont be there however.

Personally, I think we should take McCarron at 19. I would also love it if we took Murray. Murray will go by the 3rd however.

Finally, youre correct. This is a great QB class. There are a handful of QBs who should be taken in rounds 1-3 who could be really good NFL starters. We need to draft one of them. Next years QB class is terrible and we do not want to be left without a QB after Tannehill gives us another unimpressive season.

Oh and btw........ Taj Boyd is terrible. I have no idea why anyone thinks he is worth a draft pick in any round. I wouldnt take Taj Boyd if there were 30 rounds in the draft. Boyd cant hit the broad side of a barn with a football. Also, the idea of a "project" QB who is "groomed" is completely outmoded. It simply dosent exist anymore. Sure you can throw Tony Romo out there, but Dallas did not spend a draft pick on him. No team should spend a draft pick on something that is a 1-1000 shot. It isnt even worth a roster spot to keep some no talent player as your 3rd string QB who you consider a "project".

Almost all of the late round picks at QB who are good right now, such as Brady(he might be the only one come to think of it), werent "groomed" or "projects". Granted he got in there because Bledsoe got injured, he was still obviously the primary backup and he came in right away and played well.

Guys who sat the bench for a bit and are currently good starters(Rodgers might be the only one), was a 1st round pick.

So if you think youre going to spend a 6th or 7th rounder on a scrub like Logan Thomas and develop him into some kind of good QB, you may as well give your draft pick away. Use your picks on players you honestly believe can come in and be solid players.

Not defending him but you have to look at his reasoning and how the board was. Bortles was his BPA. The only players that I would have mocked to Miami based on that board:

1. Marqise Lee
2. RaShede Hageman
3. Jason Verrett

And all three wouldn't be ideal. While I think Lee is perfect for this offense, he's going to have to battle Hartline/Gibson and even then he'd be a #2. One could argue DT not being a need depending on Mitchell's play. CB is a need imo but do you want a corner that's smaller than Grimes going up against Mike Williams, Denarius Moore, Jarret Boykins, Alshon Jeffrey Cecil Shorts, etc.?

This...many of the picks people are wanting were already gone before 19. Also not defending him, but I don't think many people looked at the whole board. People still might not agree on Bortles, but context does matter to an extent lol.

QB Blake Bortles at #19.

Sorry I don't have the link as I am on my cell phone at the movies. Kelly is horrible.

I'd never guess it b/c I'd never care what he thought about the draft. Seeing his pick though only gives what I just said even more meaning.

I dont think Bortles will be available. If he were to be there that would create a great trade down scenario with multiple teams bidding for our pick. I can see picking up an xtra second and third round pick in this scenario. It may still happen with Derek Carr sitting there.

He made that pick exactly for threads like this. To get people talking about HIM!

Just ignore him and don't give him what he wants which is this attention

What does talking about him actually do though? I'm not going to follow him on Twitter. I don't click on his articles either. Him making dumb comments just make me avoid him further.

I think a dead man can write a more thought out article than Omar, wish he would take his tired act to another team. He has been down on Tannehill since day 1, and he rarely ever writes a positive article on the Dolphins. Go away Omar you SUCK!!

Blake Bortles looks like he's going to be real good. I think he is going to be a little like Joe Flacco, coming from a smaller program and becoming a star. I think he will have a chance at a better career than Tannehil. But RT has enough talent to be a decent QB. We saw good flashes early last year before the OL became a turnstile. I don't see us drafting a QB. If we were Bortles would be my choice. If somehow he drops to 19 you almost have to take him though.

If Bortles was there at 19, I would probably take him. He will never make it to 19 though. The jets would grab him.
It would cause a total upheaval of the franchise, but we cannot have the mindset that Tannehill is the next Marino.
Whoever wins the Qb battle would be our starter. The loser would be traded for a #1 pick.
In 1982 the Fins won the AFC east and went to the super bowl against Washington with David Woodley and Don Strock.
In 1983 we selected Dan Marino. Why? Because Shula knew that you always have to upgrade, even the QB.
In the late 70's, we have Bob Griese as our starter, winning 2 of 3 super bowls. He drafts Don Strock who lead the nation in passing at Va Tech.
If Bortles were available at 19, I would take a good look at him.

Yeah i don't know about Bortles but if you believe in taking the bpa no matter what then sometimes a QB will be the pick even though you already have a decent one. Value is value no matter how loaded (you hope) you are at the position.

we win 5 games this year and the last two games of the season werent a fluke and tannehill struggles mightily this year then what?

i pray to god he progresses and we win 12 games and make a deep playoff run. but you gonna put all your eggs in that basket? if bortles is there i would definitely consider taking him. whats the worst case scaenario, tannehill develops and bortles sits and learns and develops and we have a big time trade asset on our hands?

If we cant win more then 8 games then draft a QB next year. this year I am not against drafting a QB in 3rd or later rond. But not Bortles in first.

Our first and second round picks should be starters this year. Our third round pick needs to play as a starter or quality backup. We were one game from playoffs last year. We need to score more points and stop the run. Bortles wont play a down.
