If he slides past Linehan's team, he would clearly be the most talented & versatile player on the board. The idea is to draft a difference maker in the first round that will be on the field. Vernon would play w/ McMichael in a H-back role w/ Chambers, Booker, & Brown...the Phins would have a talented receiver at every option and would create a serious mismatch in coverage.GCD960 said:

So far, Saban has shown a propensity to NOT reach up for talent and to select the talent that falls to him (Roth, Crowder, Daniels) and to not take risks in the first round. He went w/ the quality and versatility he knew in Ronnie Brown rather than the more risky less productive receiver.
I see Vernon as a blend of Antonio Gates (whom Saban recruited), Ben Watson, and the Redskins Chris Cooley. Speaking of Cooley, that kid had a extemely productive year with 71 receptions and 7 TD's...leave it to Gibbs to resurrect the use of the H-back.
