Bucs fan here...

Thanx Beatles for your honesty. Hickey knows he can't hide from here on out. We are stuck with him as we are stuck with our Owner. I hope we have good underlings that are actually eyes for talent.

Beatles here. I just wanted to offer my two cents on the hiring of your new GM. As always I come in peace.

So, you've hired Dennis Hickey?....Oh...oh....Ohhhhhh....:err:...

Not gonna lie, fellas, this is the one man I hoped you wouldn't hire, for the simple fact I do like you guys alright and I wanted you all to get a good GM...but....well, how do I put this...

Hickey was with us for years and of the 2009 Bucs draft, there ARE NO PLAYERS remaining on our roster and few, if any, from 2005 and 6

Now, if you attribute this to bad GMing i can see that. If you think, as some do, that Dom pulled it together his last two years, you might be inclined to give him a shot...

However..as a PURE TALENT SCOUT...Hickey has a...less than glowing track record...and...and to be honest a lot of us were of the thought that until he left us we would never be rid of Dom/GuAllen drafts.

I'm not making fun, nor am i saying you should panic...I'm just saying that, from our perspective...this hire is..........

Uh........

Not...what you guys want. A lot of us are kinda...celebrating this, actually....

*I* however want you, as a Florida franchise, to do well...I just thought you should know how it looked on our end. I do hope he proves us wrong for you guys, but being completely honest...? I don't see it. He has a bad reputation 'round our area and, supposedly, the league.

Here's hoping for the best. Don't shoot the messenger...just some info to think about.

- Beatles.

Those of us who are objective realize this is just another, in a LONG list, of complete **** UPS by this organization. Just waiting till next year where hopefully Ross fires everybody and has enough sense to start over from scratch.

This guy followed him, and now we know he was the bottom of the barrell. No one else wanted the job..

We won't know how good of a gm he is until the start of next season. We have no choice but to wait and see what he can to improve our roster.

Not a troll at all, friend. 'Rooted for ya early on last year once our season was done. Just being honest...this hire may turn out VERY meh for you. To be fair his last two drafts were his best because he was relied upon since Schiano came from college...maybe we'll find out he was better than we thought.

Then again, he's been with us since '96 in one form or another, so...where there's smoke..............

Hickey can improve his WPA instantly by terminating the contract of Phyllis Wheeler.

Good lord those are some horrible drafts. Look at the BUSTS at QB for christ sakes.

And people here thought Ireland sucked. He at least hit on a few picks here and there. Some solid late round steals on occasion and Tannehill aside(who was Philbin and Sherman obv) he got us decent players in round 1.

Someone dropping heavy doses of reality on you that you dont like......... has to be a troll.

Thanks for the 2 cents but when a guy is buried in the pecking order it's hard to either blame him or give him credit. I guess we will just wait and see.

do we knw he had any say on draft day whn it was player A or player B

Shank:

Hickey was very much a part of those drafts as he was oour head scout and worked very closely with our GM's to make those drafts. The truth is, we have had not one impressive draft with Hickey here until perhaps 2012 when we got Barron, Martin and David all in one. Most fans of our will tell you he was part of our draft problem. Just being honest.

Interesting that you do say that the Bucs didn't have an interesting draft until 2012. You know Hickey was promoted in 2011 to Personal Director which would make 2012 one of the first drafts with Hickey having a more significant influence.

Just being honest.
