Did the light go on for Harris last night?

[...]
With that said, we can ONLY use the one year we employed it with OUR personnel and OUR coaches - we got great success, yardage be damned.

I have to strongly disagree. This defense could not get off the field consistently. We had 1.088 plays on defense in 2016 (including penalties), which is good (or bad) for 31st. Only the Niners have had more plays on defense. Two major reasons for that: 1. We had the worst run defense, allowing 4.8 yards per run play. 2. We gifted the other teams the most 1st downs by penalty in the league (41).

I don't know how anyone would consider this a "great success".

SLB and nickel pass rusher

This but he's a stand up player and has never played off the los lb which makes that all projection based. Safer bet is what he was drafted for 34 olb

He doesn't rush in a 3 or 4 point stance either which is what Miami asks for of its edges in the sub.

Our defense in a vacuum was horrible... but in context of our talent and depth (specifically in the back 7) then having the 19th best scoring defense and consistently creating timely turnovers would be considered a "success" in my book.

There are other schemes that offer flexibility and versatility for game planning vs different types of offenses. Ours scheme is static.

What do you think of Todd Wash and the Jaguars defense philosophy ? Jaguars following the Broncos model of getting big names in free agency and drafting well.

If Harris could develop his pass rushing skills on par to Yannick Ngakoue by year 3, I'd feel a lot better about the pick; Yannick had a sack in 2.28 sec which is the type of skill your going to need if your a 3rd down specialist.

I'm trying to figure is that the result of a great rushing technique or just really poor blocking by the tackle? The tackle seems off balance and not set to take on the rusher.

He soften the edge by chopping the tackles punch, which made the LT off balance. Definitely skill.

He doesn't show his hands early, LT punches he chops again, same result.

I'm sure they will make getting Brown a deal a priority this week. though he wouldn't have made a difference as far the games outcome.

It's only week 1 and there's enough bad o line play and lack of quality depth out there to ruin seasons short of top shelf defenses hiding the exposures.

I'm pretty sure Miami can't afford a tackle injury. It's not as dire as the starting nickel lbs health but it's damn close.

I haven't really watched their defense as of late and haven't had any time to watch any of Sunday's games yet.
