Dolphins Free Agent targets

With the vet running back market being so cheap, I wouldn't mind adding AJ Dillon on a cheap deal. Mostert, Achane, Diillon and Brooks would be a good group. Dillon could help the red zone and on some of those 3rd and short situations Miami has struggled with. There are some rookie backs I like, but vet backs are so cheap, you could likely sign Dillon for less than it cost to add a vet punter.

Don't know if we could afford him, but getting Dalton Schultz would make the draft much easier to get O-Linemen to finally fix the line.

Realistically as much as I would love to have Schultz, Miami absolutely can not overpay for the TE position, so unless he has had a change of heart and decided to play for a reasonable price (Very doubtful), that is one luxury unfortunately we can not have.

Juan Jennings is a guy who, I think will be on Miami's radar. He's a 6'3" WR from San Francisco. He's an absolute monster blocker from the WR postion and could be a good endzone option in Miami. He already knows the system and is an improvement over some of the other option Miami fielded in 2023.
Underrated baller. Catches big passes.

I’d like to add Lions WR Josh Reynolds. Size, strength and toughness that were lacking.

And possibly Bucs LB Devin White (on a one year deal) as he might not like the long term offers he gets on the open market after a tumultuous year in TB.

TE’s - Hunter Henry is still only 29 and produced in a shitty offense. Darren Waller, not a FA yet but good chance he’s released due to age, injuries and salary. Logan Thomas, at 33, still an athlete with a massive frame. Also would be a good mentor to Julian Hill, who was also a QB turned TE. Draft prospects at TE appear very thin, just like our draft resources so it will be tough to find a rookie outside of a late project.

Finding an OL in FA with little money is VERY unlikely so you have to believe that’s where we be looking in the draft.

Edge rushers are very expensive. I think we’d be better off re-signing AVG and adding someone like Josh Uche who is still young and had a disappointing season in 2023 after a breakout 2022. Might be able to snag him at a decent price tag in the second wave of FA. He’s also from Miami so coming home might have some appeal.
This is the type of FA we should be talking about. With our cap space guys like Uche are legitimate targets. Uche wasn't really used correctly from the report I just read last year.

There is upside potential here. Hes still a pass rusher so he will be some what expensive but not as expensive as a guy like Greenard.

Trade down from #21. Draft OL, TE, and DL.
I'd trade down with every single pick we currently have. My goal would be to double the number of picks we have in this draft, even if alot of them are late rounders. With our 1st I want a 1st in 25 and a late 2nd rounder in 24.

Would have to be major want from trading partner for that to happen imo

Okay let's dive into this.

Schultz- He wants to stay in Houston, Houston wants to keep him, were in cap hell, the Texans have the 6th most cap space.

Verdict = Hes staying a Texan

Glasgow - he's a very good run blocker but hes a giant liability in pass protection. If he expects to paid off his run blocking he's not going to be worth his contract. I don't hate it but I Kinda hate it.

Verdict = I just don't love how awful he is in pass protection. We've had too many bad Olinemen over the years who can't pass block. I'm gonna pass

Biadasz - He's a smart player but he's just not a very strong person, he folds like a lawn chair if he's ever 1 on 1 in pass pro. For the money someone pays this guy, they will regret it when he's allowing DTs to run free at the QB late in games.

Verdict = Hard no, not athletic enough

Greenard - Hes seems like a Greir FA. Comming off big year, Going to be one of the most expensive FAs this year. He has a history of always getting injured. Just like TA he's never made it through a season healthy. He's the Perfect Dolphin.

Verdict = If we could afford him, I'd consider it bc we are so banged up at the position. However I don't think we even look his direction due to our cap situation. Also the Texans have alot of cap space and might resign him.

Stewart- I'd LOVE to get this guy. He's the unsung hero of that Defense. The Colts defense was garbage last year while he was out. There is an argument to be made internally by the Colts on who their most valuable FA is and there is a good argument for Stewert. The Colts know how important this guy is to their defense, he won't be super expensive and....... unfortunately for us, the Colts have a crap load of cap space.

Verdict = I'd love it, but hes gonna stay on the Colts.

Fuller - a 29 year old corner.......

Verdict= 99% of corners turn into dogsh*t the minute they turn 30. Hell No!

Savage -Injured last year, benched for bad performance for part of the year before... meh.

Verdict = Not a fan. Hard pass.

Samuel - Would be nice he's a hellova playmaker. He's prob gonna be too expensive.

Verdict= I'd like it, we prob can't afford him.
That was an informative assesment of all these FA's.

TE - Schultz is probably out of our price range. I think we will address this in the draft. A TE I really like is Ben Sinnott from Kansas State. We would have to pick up a 3rd round pick if we want him or Jared Wiley from TCU if we can pick up a 4th round pick.

OG - Glasgow - I didnt realize his pass protection was so poor. I think however we are going to draft one of the top tier OT's in the first round and play them at OG in their rookie season if the Center Johnson-Powers is off the board. Somebody like Graham Barton from Duke if we can trade down. He can play any interior OL position. That would allow us to pick up a 3rd. Jordan Morgan from Arizona is another possibility.

C - Biadasz - I think we are going to re-sign Connor Williams even though he is going to miss a portion of the season. That will make his contract more affordable.

DE - Greenard - I didnt realize he has an injury history, in that case you are right he would be the perfect Dolphin lol. He is probably out of our price range anyway. I think we will draft an edge rusher in round 2, somebody like Chris Braswell or Adisa Isaac in addition to signing a FA edge rusher like Clowney, AJ Epenesa or we might bring Van Ginkel back.

DT - Stewart - If he is out of our price range then we will have to look at other FA options. Javon Kinlaw is only 26 and probably wont cost much. He was a former first round pick so he has potential. We will probably also draft a DT for depth maybe in round 4 if we can acuire a 4th round pick or the 5th round. DeWayne Carter from Duke or Braden Fiske from FSU could be good options.

DB - Fuller - He has been a good corner but as you suggest corners tend to drop off a cliiff around age 30. Jeff Okudah could be a decent option as he is only 25 and was a former first round pick. Cam Smith better pan out or our secondary is in trouble.

S - Savage - I didnt realize he has an injury history. Julian Blackmon is another option and he is only 26 or we could just bring DeShon Elliott back.

WR - Samuel - You are right he is probably too expensive. KJ Osborn is only 27 and had 48 receptions scored 3 TD's last year with the Vikings and he is from Miami. I also like Luke McCaffrey from Rice in the mid rounds he has good size 6'2 205 and caught 71 passes and scored 13 TD's last year.

These could be more realistic options for the Dolphins in terms of their availability and price tag.

I personally don’t think we will target a TE in the draft or FA. I don’t think Grier would want to admit he made a mistake with Hill. I think they’re treating Hill as a red shirt year.

I lov
TE - Dalton Schultz - We need another pass catching option. Schultz had a good season with the Texans and he is only 28. He would be a significant upgrade over Smythe. I know McD and Grier claim to like Julian Hill but if he is so good how come we havent seen anything from him yet?

OG - Graham Glasgow - I am not sure we can afford to re-sign Hunt and I dont want to invest that kind of money on a non premium position. Glasgow is 32 so he wont command a lot of money on a short term deal.

C - Tyler Biadasz - He is the 2nd rated FA Center behind Connor Williams and he is only 26 without the injury concern of Williams.

DE - Jonathan Greenard - He had 12.5 sacks last season and he is only 27. Phillips and Chubb are going to miss a large portion of the season.

DT - Grover Stewart - We probably wont be able to re-sign Wilkins.

DB - Kendall Fuller - X is likely to be released, and even if Cam Smith works out we still need better DB's than Apple and Kohou.

S - Darnell Savage - Elliott and Jones are both FA's. He is only 27.

WR - Curtis Samuel - He could be a nice number 3 behind Hill and Waddle.

We can't sign all of them but we will have to address some needs in FA since the only meaningful draft picks we have are a first and second.
I love Biadasz
