Yeah, the kid has tons of raw talent with health being his only question mark. The good thing is if he does indeed get injured again (*knock on wood*) it looks like Miami has a capable back-up developing in Shawn Murphy. Who knows? Maybe Murphy even beats Thomas for the starting spot. Even having an improved-Murphy start and Thomas as depth (or vice versa) would be a win IMHO for Miami.

Did Thomas ever play LG in College, anyone know? If Murphy works out...then long term it would be good to have Thomas and Long on the same side... earth moving beast freaks they would be.

UConn's homepage doesn't have a depth chart for 2007/08, but Thomas started at LG in 2006/07.

EDIT: after reading a few press releases from the 2007/08 season, Thomas played RG that year. anyhow, he can probably play both positions with us. IMO he's a better fit at RG though.

I fully trust Sparano with the O line.
We lost both Guards last year and made some below avg played look avg

Thomas getting reps with first unit this morning. IMO, they want him to be starting against the Falcons in the season opener. He seems to have all the tools. Getting everyone else reps will only help the back-ups gain additional experience in case of injury.
