For those who don't like the 1st pick, why?

Foster will more than likely have ANOTHER shoulder surgery this offseason.

He's already got the body of an NFL vet. Let someone else deal with that.

I'm not sure either. I think it has more to do with fans wanting other players. For me it was Davis and Watt as the two I really wanted there.

I'm no scout, but Harris looks to have serious pass rushing skills and for a Miami team that struggled to get off the field on third downs that's exactly what they need. His pass rushing skills look better to me than Watt and Davis, although those guys are more complete players. But, Harris is also said to have an incredible work ethic so he could also become a complete player in time.

Bottom line, the Dolphins had 33 sacks last year. Wake had 11 1/2 of those and he's 35 years old. Miami just might have got the best pass rusher in this draft.

I like the pick but I understand that some people didn't like the pick. But please, lets all root for the kid to be awesome. He's on OUR team. This board is notorious for hating a player that the FO drafted. It seems some people on this board are more worry about being right than about wanting our team to win. Nothing wrong with having a different opinion but we've seen in the past with some people that if they don't like the pick they will point out to us every little thing that player might do wrong as if to say "see, I was right about the player".....when they right attitude would be "I didn't like the pick but I'm rooting for him and hope he proves me wrong".......check your egos at the door and root for our players

Ozzy rules!!

The typical yearly nonsense of pulling out the pom-poms. Like clock work actually.

Don't dislike the pick, but i am not really excited about it. Better players on the board i.e. Mckinley and others. His run defense leaves alot to be desired.

My reason isn't as much about him as it was who was still available. Foster and Lamp to name two! Plus his run defense and the fact scouting reports say he gets shut down by big LT's and when tackles get hands on him he is done. Thats not good!

For me it has nothing to do with his size. Carl Lawson or Jordan Willis or Trey Hendrickson are all about the same size. There's nothing wrong with being 6'3", 253. The problem is I think at least 2 out of the 3 I just mentioned are better players. I would've taken Tre'Davious White or Reuben Foster and preferred a kid like Trey Hendrickson at #54. Harris is fine if you take him at #54. I don't like it at #22.

There's a lot of myths going on surrounding Charles Harris. "He produced in the SEC that can't be ignored"....

First of all, the production isn't that good. Secondly, let's not pretend like he was out there beating Laremy Tunsil or Cam Robinson or Jake Matthews for sacks in the SEC. Half his sacks came in one game vs. Georgia who was starting a graduate transfer from Rhode Island by the name of Tyler Catalina at left tackle in 2016, who's well on his way to earning an honest paycheck selling shoes. He finally lost that starting LT job for UGA's bowl game against TCU.

Will Holder for Vanderbilt isn't even on my board at all. That's how much I think of him as a prospect. Dan Skipper has a UDFA grade from me. He's 6'10", too tall, can't bend, slow footed, and probably won't even make a roster in the NFL. This is the caliber of player Charles Harris faced in the SEC. He never faced anything close to the best.

The best sack Harris ever had was the spin move that worked on David Sharpe of Florida. He's a guard or backup swing tackle at best at the next level.

Liability vs the run, doesn't understand how to use his hands, doesn't disengage to get off blocks, production was adequate but not strong, never produced against elite SEC competition, pedestrian athlete for a situational/developmental pass rusher. The kid was a late 2nd round talent.

Other myths...."He's fun to watch". No, Reuben Foster is fun to watch.

"Just wait until he's pasting Tom Brady you'll change your negative opinions".... Tom Brady is going to make Charles Harris his bitch just like he's done every other player the Dolphins have had for the past 20 years. It's almost like some of the people saying things like this haven't watched any football or paid attention to what's going on since the late 90's.

"Harris has double digits sack potential"..... Well, he might have double digits sacks by the time his career is over. He's got a lot of work to do until then.

"All the draftniks Mayock, McShay, Riddick, Rang, CBS, etc., etc. all projected him to go anywhere from 10-20 range"..... Maybe so. Just as they were all also in lockstep when they projected guys like Dion Jordan or Quinton Coples to go 10-20 range too. What they didn't tell you was that they couldn't play. These talking heads are mostly in the business of trying to predict which players go where in mock drafts based off what they're hearing. Not actually trying to watch these kids and determine whether or no they can actually play. That's why you saw McShay and Kiper changing their mock drafts yesterday everytime the wind blew with misinformation or a new rumor of Trubisky going #1 overall to Cleveland.

Lastly, none of them watch as much college football as I do. I'm always confident with whatever my assessment is on players or prospects. I think Miami could've done much better last night.

Ive never been very high on Charles Harris. I can't help it Miami picked him. I dislike the pick no matter who picked him in the 1st round.

I just don't see much current value in a pass-rush specialist when our hideous sub NFL quality run defense won't allow for many situations where we could utilize such a pass rushing specialist.

Its as simple as this. We were gifted a player who would go a long way in solving our run defense, and passed. A player versus the run the quality of Foster would of made Branch an acceptable starter.

Spot on, as always. The dolphins need us ... badly.

I would rather miss with the unknown of a draft pick vs knowing about an injury situation and still taking the player. It's a crap shoot anyway so why add to the odds against?

I like Harris and I like this post.

You mean I can be objective?

**** me

TedSlimm summed it up perfectly. I've watched the tapes on Harris, and yea he's got a good spin move.....but umm, that's it. If Harris doesn't beat you in the first second, he wont beat you period. Now since we have him and we cant turn back time, I would hope Wake and Hayes could mentor him into something reallllyyyyyyy good. But I doubt it. If I just became the new GM, I would trade Harris for a 2nd round pick today lol. The guy is a situational pass rusher, not an every down guy. Maybe he can play OLB for us.

Solid truth.

LD

He's undersized and he's got a questionable motor. I also don't know what he is, is he a DE in the 4-3 or is he a LB or both? Since he's kinda small I'd like to see him play LB and then be a DE on passing downs but if he's just a situational pass rusher/undersized 4-3 DE I don't like him at all.

After watching putrid run defense for an entire season, I don't want someone that the experts say his main weakness is his inability to stop the run. That just does not make sense to me. With that said, I was a bit afraid of Rueben Foster after Dion Jordan.
