Fox ranks Miami worst drafting team of the past 5 years

Who is afraid to kick to ted Ginn? He averages under 10 yards per PR and 22 yards on KR's. I think he will be alot better going forward but he's far from elite right now.

It's great he was one of the best backs in the league for 7 games last year but to be elite you need to be durable and so far he has not proven that. He's definitely done well against us but last I checked in games he's played against the Jets Miami is 1-4

Thise averages would be ALOT higher if it werent for two holding calls... If those two calls stood, add roughly 180 yards to his total

We can play the waht if game but Justin Miller and Leon Washington have had KR TDs called back yet they still managed to be near the league leaders(Miller led) in KR average.

he played against the jets twice in 2006?

ted ginn.. browns wouldnt kick it to him near the end of the game, which ended with a squid kick... hmm.. that makes sense! why kick it off when you can give the other team great field position.

thats only one instance of this happening, must i count the other times teams gave up great field position rather than kick it to teddy?

and if elite is well known around the league then charley caserly is pretty well known and talked about the hgh formula... hester, ginn, and hall...

i think that makes him elite!

okay does anybody seriously pay attention to what fox says? they have knocked on miami always and they have a pretty crappy set of analysts.

You should pay attention...

That Fox reporter is none other than Alex Marvez. He covered this team for more than a decade. I would venture to say that his knowledge of this team was the driving force behind the story. As a matter of fact, I'm sure his knowledge of this team was the driving force behind the story. He covered the Denver Broncos (second to last) prior to covering the Dolphins.

Well you cant blame Ginn for not being able to make something out of nothing. The Jets special teams are far better than Miami. remember, Miami's special teams were the worst in the league last year so Ginn cannot be blamed entirely for other players not being ableto handle their assignements

Not much of surprise.

32. Miami Dolphins
Current roster: 19 of 38 picks (seven starters, one specialist). This number is skewed by the 2007 draft, as all 10 selections were kept as part of a youth movement. Tackle Vernon Carey and safety Yeremiah Bell are the only two remaining members from the 15 players chosen in 2003 and 2004.

Worst drafting team of the past 5 years is generous.

You could go back 9 years and track some serious ineptitude.

With the change of guard from Wannstedt to Speilman, Saban and Mueller we've had a couple good drafts sprinkled in so the article kind of fails to put the blame where it should be which is on those prior drafts.

5 years leaves out some of Wanny's best utter draft failures.
That frickin guy was a plague to this franchise.

I'll never forget all the Bears fans that came onto these boards warning us of what was to come after we named him coach AND GM. :(

Yes, Brown played against the Jets teice in '06. He against the Jets twice in '05, twice in '06 and once last year.

That is one instance, maybe Ginn was having a good game? I don't know the specifics but 22 yards per return is not good.

22 yards a KR, 9 yards a PR are NOT elite #s. Please stop, it doesn't mean he won't become elite but he wasn't as a rookie.

I do agree our STs are better(we'll see this year w/ Westhoff gone) BUT 22 yards is 22 yards. We can agree NE has had excellent STs as well and Welker went from averaging 9.2 per PR to 10. A jump but down from the 10.6 that Kevin faulk averaged for the Pats in '06 so Ginn's #s would have been higher on a better STs unit but that's not the lone reason he put up average return #s.

2005- ronnie brown, matt roth, channing crowder, and travis daniels
2006- jason allen, and derek hagan
2007- ted ginn, john beck, samson satele, lo book, paul soliai, and brandon fields
2008- jake long

okay so by reading this... we have an elite running back, a starting ilb, depth at corner back, an elite return specialist/ sophmore starting reciever, a good sophmore center, a starting Free safety, an exciting utility player, and our punter for years to come. not to mention our 3rd reciever who gets a pass because he runs great routes.

over the last 3 years miami has produced solid drafts...

of the other 2 drafts miami picked up vernon carey, and yeremiah bell! okay what about donald lee? pope? and hadnot? plus miami has added justin smiley, and michael lehan from those drafts in particulr

add fred evans, rod wright, and devin aramoshodu to the list of solid contributors.

2004 and 2005 are the 2 drafts out of the last 8 years you could say was successful. You could only make the argument that they were successful simply based on us getting 1-2 solid players out of them. Hardly enought to rebuild a franchise.

2004 got us Carey and Hadnot. Don't give me Pope as some positive for a draft. He was good enough for ST and depth.

2005, if you take out R. Brown everything else is still up in the air. Roth hasn't developed into the starting talent they thought he could be. Those short arms seem to be a legitimate problem for him. Crowder has been a starter simply because the team has had no OLB talent to challenge him. His instincts lack a great deal and he dissapears from games for long periods. When filling in for ZT at MLB he was avg. at best. Hardly a ringing endorsement. I don't think he'll be around in a couple of years.
Travis Daniels...... have you seen him play? He looks like he's standing in cement as WR's burn by him. He'll definitely be a goner as soon as we get any CB help at all in here.

2006.... did you really list that as a positive? Saban failed pretty bad in that one leaving some higher rated talent on the board to draft a kid he had recruited in college. He went with the fact that he knew him personally rather than going with higher rated talent.

2007 has huge potential but has proven nothing as of yet and really can't be included in any negative or positive talk. Satele seems to have made a strong case that he can play at this level but no one else has yet.

2008 hasn't happened yet man!

Regardless the bulk of this teams demise happened in the drafts from the Wanny years.

haha, i think all dolphin fans hate the jets! if they dont then they arent real dolphin fans.

ronnie brown showed he can be an elite back last year? he was an elite back last year.. he was dominating every single player in the league by over 100 yards. okay, he isnt an elite back... he, before getting injured, was the most elite back!
I know every Dolphin fan hates the Jets, but I felt like I had to say it because I was kind of sticking up for a Jets' fan. It made me feel better inside.

I can't believe some of you guys are getting all salty about that article.
Plain and Simple..... We sucked at drafting!!!! and now we're paying for it.

I can't believe it either.

It's the clear thing that has sunk this franchise.
The team is a shell with glaring holes all over the roster still.

I'm not shocked. When you look at the fact that our best player was drafted in 97, and then the majority of the other guys we drafted are from last year or from Ronnie's draft.

I don't agree with Allen being the worst though. EDDIE MOORE is still the worst.

Yes!!! Eddie Moore was the worst. But Fletcher and Allen is a close 2nd and 3rd.

didn't you guys draft a kicker with your 1st a couple of years a go? I guess we should follow your blue print based on all of the success your having these days.

Another move that factors in was the Ricky Williams trade, you guys gave up 2 1st rounders for him and he did have 1 great season but he's been more of a distraction for you ever since.

remember these days?
