My unsung hero on the defensive staff, incidentally, is Lou Anarumo.

Under his coaching, Bobby McCain has developed from an absolute eyesore into a slot corner we can survive with. Nate Allen -- a guy who should not be an NFL starter -- is playing acceptable football at safety. Cordrea Tankersley looks like the best damn rookie corner in the NFL and this is a guy who fell to the third round and was pilloried for not wanting to attack ball-carriers, among other things. Howard is taking a lot of flak, but when you actually watch him play, he's developing into a good young CB.

Play calling , Cutler and Thomas. 1 half of football doesn’t makeup for the previous 4 games. If he pulls out a .500+ season, I will change my tune.
Without our kicker kicking FG's we would have lost and lets not forget get without Landry and Stills catching the ball in the end-zone we would have lost. Heck the real winner is the score board with out having more points than ATL as time ran out we would have really lost.

So leading this team to the playoffs last year, navigating the worse travel schedule in the NFL this year as well as dealing with displacing his entire team does nothing for you. Just a blanketed anti-Cutler and play calling? I guess a winning record and what would be the 6th seed in the AFC is not good enough.

And how did we have more points than a potent offense like Atl....DEFENSE! Defense wins games and championships. Trent Dilfer won a superbowl. Was he a probowl QB...NO. He got a ring due to defense

Cutler averaged less yards per pass than Ajayi. Cutler is horrible!

I was just thinking about the job he's done after the game yesterday. Started going through the guys he's developed (or reclaimed) over the last few years. Lippett, Nolan Carroll, Brice McCain, Michael Thomas, he even had Maxwell playing decent for a minute last year. He's been given crap to work with over the years and made the most of it.

Yet, he is winning, and isn't that the only stat that matters?

Does Gase not call the run plays as well, is Gase not partly responsible for Ajayi becoming the back he is in the NFL?

I'm not sure Jay Ajayi would have exploded the way he did, or become the player that he's become, if he hadn't had a moment of adversity when he got benched.

He came out after that playing with a new attitude, and it's part of what's made him so successful.

Did I miss the Defensive Td's and FG's? Last I checked the HC run the entire team and team effort and I was answering your silly what if scenario. Thing is ATL made more mistakes than we did and we capitalized on them and won, news flash that is how all games are won. You can what if all day but the lineman did rough the passer unlike Kiko who was smart not to slam the WR and ATL D did commit PI unlike Tank who played perfect coverage.

Maybe a benching would help Cutler. Cutler shoulded feel that his starting role is a sure deal. Same with Thomas. Thomas is a cupcake out there.

Just check your received likes vs mine and take in consideration that I have only been on the forum for 9 months whereas you....9 years.

I’m no fan of Gase and will never act like I am. We have had other coaches make it to the playoffs in their first season to then fail every season after that. If he were to make it to the playoffs this year then I will not bash him.

Burke on the other hand...this thread needs to be closed lol. This is the best Dolphins D that I have seen in a long time. Melted Matty Ice! Now, we need to RETIRE Brady!

lol, this kid keeps digging up gold. Please continue with your keyboard warrior act, it'll go far here.

I'm all for benching Thomas. I think if we benched Cutler he'd just check out mentally or retire on the spot.

To me it was very telling that they kept Anarumo.
Obviously there would be some retention in staffs when a new regime comes in, but Vance was a Db specialists with a decade of experience as a coach in the NFL. You have to assume that he would have his own guy in his rolodex of potential Db coaches, yet he kept Lou. Food for thought.

Lippett is a great example. I thought he was making great progress, ahead of schedule, and was a guy we could have definitely survived with on the boundary this season. And yeah, Nolan Carroll. He developed into a serviceable cornerback over his time in Miami.
