Gase told us....this was all coming.

Adam Gase was robbed of the chance to let his team take shape in year 2. My biggest criticism to date was forcing Julius Thomas's involvement in the offence. Devante Parker should've been the target on quite a few goal line fade route's that absolute infuriated me. Parker missed some games but he was on the field enough to have made more of a contribution than he did.

Finding a qualtiy TE, consistent OL is the key to opening things up offensively.

I am excited to see an offense without Landry. He was a safety net. In 2016 Tannehill was building great chemistry with Stills and Parker, we should expect to see the best from them yet.
Tannehill loves him some slot WR im guessing whoever lines up there gets a lot of attention

Fair points. It's true we never got to see what Gase's offense would have been like this past season if THill had been healthy. Honestly, if might have been more prolific than what we will see in 2018. Two years in the system. Tannehill confidence sky high, guys fired up, momentum flowing positive. Then our boy went down. Devastated Gase. Bring in Cutler to stop gap. Have to adjust the offense, make changes, alter the flow, slow it down. We start losing, guys start missing assignments, frustrations increase, Gase starts to get fed up, tempers boil over, fights on the field, Gase shouting at Landry and vice versa in public, it all goes to crap. Now, we would assume going forward things will improve with Tannehill back. And they most certainly should. But he is coming back from two major knee injuries. There is a mental barrier he has to cross with recovering from something like that. Our offense was derailed and now we have to try and line the pieces back up, only this time it is without some key talent and a huge loss of momentum. Gase is cutting loose ends and bringing in guys of lesser talent, but potential assignment specific matches, to try and get things back on track. All of this leads me to believe our 2018 offense might not be as good as our 2017 COULD have been.

Gase is at a crossroads. No doubt about it. He has to recover his team. If he can find his needed balance to coach well, Tannehill remains 100% healthy, Gase hits on some of these FA mid tier guys he is bringing in, we draft exceptionally well....then he has got a shot.

Man...that is a lot that has to go right. Here's to hoping though boys. Though our FA period has not been as sexy this year, there are still some intriguing pieces for me to watch. Definitely looking forward to that draft. And truly, if Tannheill is 100% good to go and remains so all season, we will start climbing out of this hole. Perhaps slowly. But climbing.

And no doubt it...Oline has to be strong...and Gase's offense NEEDS, absolutely NEEDS, a stud receiving TE to allow all of the pieces to flow.

Guys have been posting up on these boards that Gase is now building his offense/his team. They're right. But Gase has been doing that since he got here. What he is doing now is scorched earth. He is creating his own "Patriot Way" in South Beach. Gaseway or highway. He is done compromising and done being the fun player's coach. He knows if the trends continue he will lose his HC job. It's almost as if he is taking this personal. If players don't take his message to heart and do their jobs, it is HIS JOB they are messing with. That's insulting to him. Big name or not, he will shut that crap down and ship you out. And whether you agree with his moves or not, Gase has told us change is coming. He knows that change will upset the fan base. He's flat out said it. But Gase is swinging now. I really don't think TBaum is as much of a factor in these dealings as our fan base is suggesting. Gase is fighting for his job and he will not let certain players get in the way. Ajayi, Timmons and Landry were on Gase's cross off list. No doubt about it. Suh...I really do believe Gase favored Suh and his consistent force on defense. This might truly be a cap casualty that Gase required to add other pieces he needs. He is thinking big picture.

Gase wants to win. His ego is wrapped up in his offenses. His offenses played like "garbage" and he knows a bum offense is a reflection upon him. He is pushing back. Former Broncos players have said he is not the same fun loving guy that he was before. A potential positive in all of this is that perhaps Gase will finally start to get the players that he NEEDS for his offense to be effective. Clearly it is personnel specific. As much as he says he adapts his offense to fit players, the track record says that doesn't work for him. Specific players have to fit his specific offense.

A potential negative outcome to all of this...the enemy becomes his own team. Part of us like his no nonsense, calling his own players out in public and holding them accountable approach. The other part knows that can be hurtful to the locker room. If Gase is taking all of this personal, then his fun loving or "players coach" attitude that won him over with so many players in his past might be gone. If so, I think his success will fade away as well. He is going to have to find that balance of keeping it fun for his men, but holding them to the highest standards. A feat few coaches master. But if he continues his scorched earth mentality into 2018, I believe he will start to lose the men he is trying to lead, even the" good ones." Here's hoping for the balance.

As for the writing on the wall and Gase putting us and the players on notice:

“That’s more mental errors than we’ve had the last two years,” Gase said of Sunday’s punishing loss at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. “I’ll find the guys that want to do it right and those are the guys that are going to play.”

“I’m upset about the way our offense played. I’m tired of watching for two years this garbage…We’ll make the proper adjustments, probably make some changes. We’ll figure out what we’ve got to do and get that thing rolling. I’ve been watching it for two years and it hasn’t worked.”

“I’m pissed. I’m tired of this. I’m tired of the offense being awful,” Gase said during his Saturday press conference. “Guys need to get their heads right. The coaching staff needs to do a better job because obviously our players not knowing is a direct reflection on them.”

“I don’t think it’s a retain information thing,” he replied. “It’s we’re not putting the work in. That’s what it comes down to. If you can’t remember it, you shouldn’t be in the NFL. At the end of the day, guys have got to actually take this stuff home and study it. They’re not going to just learn it all in meetings. We’ve got to find guys that will actually put forth effort to actually remember this stuff and really, it starts with our best players.”

In simplifying the offense, Gase admitted that it is too predictable, “Oh, it is. Definitely. One-hundred percent.” He then added, “We’re going to have to figure something out. We’ve got to kind of figure out really what’s best for us to do, how we really want to approach it; or I guess I’ve got to figure it out. I’ll look into it, but I’m done compromising with anybody. I’ll do what I think is best and those that want to come on board, great. Those that don’t, we’ll get rid of them.”

“We’ve got to stop trying to hit home runs all the time,” he said. “How about take the 4 or 5 yards that we’re going to get? It comes down to everybody doing their job. If we actually start doing that, it might help. It’s on the running back (Ajayi). Do your job. That’s what you’ve got to do. It’s not hard.”

“Yes, I’ve been addressing this for a while, so I’m kind of fed up with it.

“When we win, what happens is everybody brushes it under the rug and just tells everybody how great they are, and then I’m just an *******. Well, that’s what happens when you lose 40-0. Now all of a sudden, all of those little things become an issue, that we’ve been talking about. When you win and you address them and guys just think, ‘Oh, he just wants to fix something.’ Okay, well we’ve been embarrassed three times in three losses, so maybe at some point, what we’re saying might make some sense.”

“I wouldn’t say I’m tempted to do anything. I’m going to play the guys that know what to do. The fan base might not like it, but oh well. We’re the worst offense in football. It’s hard to go lower than that.”

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.co...-landry-ejection-as-embarrassing-as-ive-seen/

“This last game was probably the pinnacle of what I’ve ever seen with him (Landry) during a game,” Gase said, via ESPN.com. “I don’t think I’ve ever seen it get to a level where it was extremely bad. But the last game was about as embarrassing as I’ve seen in a long time. It was something we can’t have happen.”

Thank You. I think we all needed that refresher.

Proof is in the win column.

Gase has a LOT to prove this year.

I for one am not bullish on his future (tho I am open to alternative realities)

Great and well timed post OP.

In response to your last paragraph though, all it takes is winning. Gase can be the "bad guy" and if they win games then none of that matters. He just needs to be given the chance from Ross and the fanbase to get "his" guys, that want to do it his way. This doesn't happen in 1 year.

He inherited a mess. I mean really...does everyone remember our team before Gase arrived? I know our past couple seasons have been letdowns, but just remember that 1-4 to 10-6 turn-around. I will never forget that. That was evidence that we have our coach for the future. We are very fortunate to have one of the youngest and brightest minds in football. Once he is no longer severely handicapped we will see the proof.

***The leader of our offense (RT) and defense (Jones) just restructured their contracts for the team. This is evidence of the culture change and Gase effect. Getting rid of Ajayi, Landry, Timmons, and Suh is Gase backing up his talk, and going out and immediately replacing Landry's role with Wilson/Amendola (both un-selfish scheme players) shows me there is a plan.

Culture change is officially underway.

We are really looking up guys. We have the picks and now a bit of salary cap to address OL, TE, LB, and S. We will CERTAINLY be a better team next year. With how BAD we were last year...we were still only a few games out of the hunt. With our starting QB back, improvement on both sides of the ball, and a culture change...I strongly believe we can and WILL bounce back.

When guys focus you get MNF vs. the Patriots. If that's the Gase Way, that's what I want to watch on Sundays, even if the talent is not as good. So tired of watching guys blow it and play at an elementary level because the rest of their squad can't get their act together.

Yeah thanks for posting this. As much as I didn't like losing Landry, I respect Gases approach to this. You simply cannot allow any laziness or non-committed players who have talent get away with not putting in the effort and time it takes to operate as a whole offense. Once you start letting that happen, other players will see that and think its ok. One standard. For everyone. My problem lies only with this FO. Tannenbaum needs to go and he needs to go now. Somehow I think this organizations problems are deeper than just Tannenbaum though. I feel its throughout the whole structure

You make a compelling case for Gase's "it's my way or the highway" forming a new reality. But that still leaves Pouncey, although I don't believe I've read that he's anything approaching a clubhouse cancer, so who knows.

I think the deal with Pouncey is that he can play but is high priced and has had a serious history of injuries. Consider this, Last year Pouncey still needed to use a cane after his surgery, almost up to training camp. In order to assure his availability, Gase severely limited his on field practice time. This certainly had a negative effect on the offensive lines cohesion, but as I recall he had some reasonable stats.

This year he is available again. Certainly age is creeping up on him, but with the off season to finish recovering from last season and the previous years surgery he should be in much better physical shape. There is no reason not to expect him to play better and be practicing full time with the offensive line.

I think we have more important offensive line improvements then center, such as guard and depth across the offensive line; especially at center.

Exactly, as bad a season we had last year, we were really a couple of games or a couple of plays even away from making the playoffs. I know may be a lot of teams can say that but it is what it is. We as fans put too much stock on how Media portrays a team but other than journalistic reporting, they probably know not much more than we do. I find it amazing how the Media jumps on and off a team based on 2-3 game winning or losing streaks.

I've still got a lot of time for Gase, but if he's the one pushing us to lose our two best players, overpay for replacements and restructure others then I 'm a little concerned. Some of these off season moves have been baffling to say the least. Hope he knows what he's doing.

Great post. Thanks for the time it took.
I think Gase was tired of the pay me players and loves the team first/win at all costs players. That would explain Pouncy doing what he can while injured.

Pouncey is a real team player and a very important member of the locker room. If you accidentally shot somebody, he's the first friend you'd call to come help you bury the body.

6-10 will be a miracle.

Zero respect for coaches that don't take full responsibility and blame players. Even if he only had one week to coach them. It's on the coaches and upper management.
