GINN - I hate this quote

More like that guy and you owned yourselves.

Benny straight up said guys with 1000 yds receiving. I see 3 on that list. Just shows that you aren't reading the posts.

Thats right..i said 1000 yards... and if you wanted another WR who broke 1000 their rookie year include Michael Clayton of the bucs...

"He's allowed to have playbooks and that kind of stuff," Cameron said. "He's coming here as a returner first. He'll need to do a lot of studying for that. And then a receiver and he'll learn. Like I said, we've been through this with other guys."

I am not a regular poster, but this makes my blood boil. I have to admit, I was not thrilled w/ the Ginn pick @ #9, but it grew on me. I know I did not want Quinn at #9. I was hoping Levi Brown dropped to us and when he didn’t I was hoping for Patrick Willis to come our way. But, by no means do you draft a returner at #9 and pay him #9 money! At #9, you need a guy that can come in and start at their drafted position, especially on a team that has not made the playoffs in years! I know this subject has been brought up a million timnes but I just could not keep quiet after the head coach stated that we drafted a kick returner at #9.

Here’s to hoping I am wrong about this and that his ability to give us the field position needed makes the difference in our games!

That's ****ing ridiculous. You don't draft a guy that high and then say he's coming in to be a "returner first". That quote definately rubs me the wrong way, as I'm sure it does most Dolphins fans. Disturbing.

Do me a favor. Please TRY to list 10 WR's in the last 10 years who were difference makers at WR their rookie years(1000 yards receiving)... when you get stuck at 6 put up a post that you overeacted because WR's take 2-3 years to blossom, and because ginn can come in right now and make an impact at returning while he's learning it's a Double ++....

I don't doubt that most rookie WR don't make the Pro Bowl, there's certainly no reason why a rookie WR can't make an impact. 1000 yards is a great season for a WR, but you can make an impact w/o 1000 yards. Who would say that these rookies didn't have great years and make a difference for their teams ?

This one is old but it cracks me up so I put it in here:

1990 Proehl 56 rec 802 yards 4 TD

Just before your 10 year mark:
1995 Galloway 67 rec 1039 yards 7 TD
1996 Glenn 90 rec 1132 yards 6 TD
1996 Johnson 63 rec 844 yards 8 TD
1996 Kennison 54 rec 924 yards 9 TD
1996 Harrison 64 rec 836 yards 8 TD

10 year range
1998 Moss 69 rec 1313 yards 17 TD
1999 Holt 52 rec 788 yards 6 TD
2000 Jackson 53 rec 713 yards 6 TD
2001 Chambers 48 rec 883 yards 7 TD
2003 Boldin 101 rec 1377 yards 8 TD
2003 Johnson 66 rec 976 yards 4 TD
2004 Clayton 80 rec 1193 yards 7 TD
2004 Evans 48 rec 843 yards 9 TD
2004 Fitzgerald 58 rec 780 yards 8 TD
2004 Williams 54 rec 817 yards 8 TD
2006 Colston 70 rec 1038 yards 8 TD
2006 Holmes 49 rec 824 yards 2 TD

Thats right..i said 1000 yards... and if you wanted another WR who broke 1000 their rookie year include Michael Clayton of the bucs...

So you get to decide that 1000 yards is the magic number for if a rookie WR is any good ?

No...That is the Benchmark set by the NFL world. 1000 rushing, 1000 receiving, 3000 passing. At those numbers your #1 Receiver, RB and QB are all performing effectivly...

But overall it DOES NOT MATTER..because even if you throw me 30 WR's with 1000 yard rookie seasons there will still be 750 who didn't have good ones.

Since 2000 the average production for a rookie 1st round Wide receiver is:
34.5 Rec
472.46 Yards
2.9 TD's

The point i have been trying to make this whole time is that rookie WR's are ALL overhyped and VERY FEW ever produce #1 starter sats their first year. Historically most WR's do not make a huge impact until their third seasons...

SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

SIT BACK, RELAX anf be happy he can help us with Returns while he works to get better at WR.
