That play changed the game, up until that point we had dominated(despite only being up 7-3). 3rd and 10 from the opp 1 and they go 99 yds- that is deflating. At worst we should have been up 10-3 w/ great FP w/ the P kicking from his EZ but instead we were down. That changed that game and that one play(I believe) was the difference btw us missing the playoffs and the Giants making it.

It did just the game. The Jets trailed by 3 at halftime as opposed to being up. Lead changes occur every week. Losing that game isn't why the Jets didn't make the playoffs.

When someone said that the Dolphins knocked the Jets out of the playoffs, you said no they didn't. The Jets needed 2 out of 3. So how is 1 play the difference between the Jets making the playoffs and not making it. Do you think the Jets gave the game to the Dolphins since they figured they were out of it? That was not the case. Everything fell into place for the Jets with the exception of the Titans beating the Texans by 1 point. The Jets didn't know that until their game was nearly over. Even if they beat the Giants, the Jets would still have missed the playoffs.

The game vs the Dolphins essentially didn't matter regarding the playoffs for the Jets. They were already out while the game was played

As it has been said many times on this thread, both teams are sitting home watching the playoffs / super bowl. But the Jests are reeling from within and I can't wait for next season.

In order to make the playoffs, the Jets needed a win and Cincy, Ten, and either Oak or Den to lose their games. The only game that was played while the Jets were playing was the Titan / Texan game, which did not end until after the Jets lost. There was still 2 min left in the Texan / Titans game when the Dolphins / Jets game ended.

The Jets did not know that they were eliminated while playing the Dolphins. The game did turn out to be meaningless since the Titans won, but the Jets didn't know that until after their game was over.

when you go in needing 4 things to happen you kind of know even if you win you aren't going to the playoffs and the heart was ripped out of the team a week or 2 earlier. Our team wasn't mentally tough enough this season.
