Jets Handed A Free Playoff Spot

Don't talk to us about the Colts giving us the game. I'm tired of hearing this crying from all you Dolphin fans. Here are the FACTS ... not what your crystal ball is saying ... While their starters were on the field and playing hard we held them to 15 points ... AND the fact is ... the ONLY reason they scored a TD on us in the first half was because they got an automatic 1st down on a tripping penalty after we held them on 4th and 1. If you think they want to see our defense again you're living on your own planet.

Meanwhile ... they HUMILIATED your defense. They had the ball for about 3 minutes and scored 30 points. Peyton could have played lefty and still beat you.

Ok Jets fans this post may upset you a little. Cincy THREW the game to you guys and you took it hook line and sinker, your fat slob of a coach was so excited that he was winning, he decided to open up his entire playbook not realizing he sees this exact team next week. And he even decided to run up the score, how nice, now Cincy has everything they need to mollywhop you next week.

Good ol' Rexy showed his entire gameplan, most importantly that he has no faith in Dirty and that you rely heavily on the "gimmicky"(your team's words) wildcat. So prepare to have 8-9 stacked in the box against you and have the game rest on your awful QBs shoulders. If and thats a HUGE "if" you guys somehow manage to stay in the game, credit goes to your D and your D only. Nothing else. But as far as offense, you guys are ****ed next week. Soak it up while you can.

The only thing correct about this thread is that the NYJ`s were handed a playoff spot but it was by the Miami Dolphins!! By not winning any of the games we should have won to be a playoff team....Buffalo, Tennessee, Houston. We`re on the hook for that not Indy or Cinci, win those games and we`re playing next week but we didn`t did we!

alright burger13, as a fan...how devistated would you be if the dolphins got into the playoffs under the same scenerio? I bet you would be demanding the dolphins to give up their playoff spot....

You can complain all you want but your argument is weak...plain and simple. At the end of the day who got into the playoffs? who held the tie breakers? who blew their last 3 games against average opponents and blew their chance at the playoffs? While you have not actually said so, it sure seems like you are implying that the dolphins are much more deserving than the jets of having a playoff spot.

I would be happy as hell if the Dolphins got the same gift as the Jests did. But they didn't, the Jests did. and I'm a Dolphins fan, who's lived in NJ my whole life, so I have more than a little hatred for that franchise...

I don't see where I demanded that the jests give up their playoff spot....

I don't see where I implied that the Dolphins deserve to be there any more than the Jests (they don't)...

...my point is simply that I haven't seen in recent memory a team, not just back in, but be escorted in, by their final 2 opponents the way the Jests were. I'm personally not too thrilled about it. I don't suspect a Jests fan would be if the roles were reversed either.....

...as for the perception of crying, what's going on right now is no worse than how jests fans have cried for an entire year about how our AFC East title last year wasn't legit because their closet hero Tom Brady wasn't playing.

not about that....to me at least.

Dolphins could have won those games, got in the playoffs, and had the Jests get the same gifts and get in also, and I would still feel exactly 100% the same way.

Thank you for proving my point, now here is the list of players under 29. Now try to explain how I am wrong that the Jets roster is not filled with old overpaid players. You keep telling yourself Jets are an old team filled with overpaid players if that makes you feel better but you will be plain and simple wrong.

Upset me? That was comical.

Ryan did not open up the playbook after he was winning. The game was well in hand, and he knew his defense would not lose it when he was up 17 points. Hell, they couldn't gain a yard. Im sure he knew it was over at the first TD. And you really shouldn't talk about relying on the Wildcat....

Stop posting mindless crap like this. Your blind hatred and bias was written all over it from the first word.

I couldn't agree with you more. I'm not sold about the actual ability of the Jets, but we had plenty of opportunities to be there instead of you and this team failed miserably. The teams that go to the playoffs are the ones that have taken advantage of their opportunities. We didn't against the Colts, Saints, Bills, or any of out last 3 games.

Ironically, about the only time we really took advantage of opportunities was against the Jets.

I wouldn't be all warm and fuzzy about the way the Jets got into the the playoffs and I would have said the same thing about Miami if they had managed it again this year.

The whole AFC East just seems flat this year.

You can put new headlights on a old car!
But it's still a old car!
If you're happy with all them oldtimers.
I'm happy for you.

Where are all the old timers?

Over 30:

jake Grove(30)
Ricky Williams(32)
Jason ferguson(35)
jason taylor(35)
Joey Porter(32)
Yeremiah bell(31)
Akin Ayodele(30)

you also have a ton of starters who will be 29 by next season

For us we have the following starters over 30:

Faneca(33)
Woody(32)
Jones(31)
Richardson(38)
Jenkins(30)
Ellis(32)
Douglas(32)
Thomas(30)

all our guys except Richardson(who is still really good) are w/in the 30-32 range. faneca and woody are OL that can be productive for 2-3 more seasons, Jones is old for a RB but we have 2 really good young guys behind him, Jenkins just turned 30, Ellis is getting old but he had one of his best years this year, Douglas is a hold the fort type of guy.

We need to draft OL to prepare for the evantual retirements of faneca and woody and we need pass rushers. you guys need new safeties, LBs, WRs and possibly a RB if Ronnie can't come back healthy.

I never argued that some old guys cant play good. Brett Favre at 40 for example.

Ricky Williams is a Heisman trophy winner
1000 yard rusher this year

Jason Taylor
A six-time Pro Bowl selection, Taylor was named the NFL Defensive Player of the Year in 2006, and is the NFL's all time leader in fumble return touchdowns (6).

Taylor has also won the "AFC Defensive Player of the Week" Award seven times which is fifth most ever by a defensive player

Along with winning seven "AFC Defensive Player of the Week" Awards, Taylor has also won three "NFC/AFC Defensive Player of the Month" Awards which is the third most ever by a defensive player (trailing only Bruce Smith and John Randle

He is the Miami Dolphins all-time career sack leader with 117 and counting

But let's look a little beyond sacks. Strahan had 22 forced fumbles. Taylor has 36. Strahan had four interceptions. Taylor has eight.

1. After the Patriots beat the Dolphins last month, Bill Belichick greeted Jason Taylor with the following words: “You’ll be in the Hall of Fame someday.’’

Joey Porter
Career NFL statistics as of Week 13, 2009 Tackles 517 Sacks 90.0 INTs 12

Not to slouchy either.

Age Rank NFL Team Average Age

13th Jets 27.16

27th Dolphins 26.47
New York Jets Salary Cap
2009
NFL Salary Cap Limit: $127,997,000
Jets Adjusted Cap: $129,278,924
Current Estimated Cap Space: $808,335
Jets Rookie Allotment: $3,429,442

It's been out there for some time now that the Miami Dolphins have roughly $24 million in cap space to work with when it comes time to restock the roster this offseason.

Teams approaching, or are over the NFL's $123 million salary cap are: New England ($119 million), Dallas ($121 million), Indianapolis ($128 million), the New York Jets ($125 million), New Orleans ($130 million), and Washington ($131 million).
Take note that there are two AFC East teams (the Jets and Patriots) in the hemorrhaging area of this list (It's perfectly fine to let out a cheer).
The Bills have a lot more cap space than the Dolphins, but who really wants to play in Buffalo, so don't expect the Bills to make much of a slash in free agency.

Sounds like somebody spent to much money.
