Mando: Stephen Morris, UofM QB On Phins Radar

Dude was a monster his JR year but was hurt literally the whole season last year. His mechanics were garbage cause he couldn't put weight on one of his feet.

On another note - everyone loves Pat Devlin for some reason but he was a joke in college...much worse than Morris.not sure where all the hate stems from.

He looked like trash before he got hurt. See the Florida game.

Thats also when Floridas defense was healthy and "top in the sec".

Morris isn't peyton. But is far from hot garbage.

He had a few good games where he showed flashes. I couldn't wait for the guy to graduate. I would have rather had another 2 years of Jacory Harris.
I couldn't even watch games last year they were so bad.

Rooted hard for Morris, but realistically, a genuine interest in him would definitely dim any faith I've built up in Hickey.

I would be concerned if Hickey used a draft pick on Stephen Morris. He is not worth being drafted.

My guess is they are looking at him as a possible addition to their UDFA class, assuming they don't spend a mid-round pick on a QB. I would love for them to draft Aaron Murray in the 4th round if he is there.

I assume they are looking for a young quarterback to come in and give Devlin a legitimate competition for the #3 job, maybe even enter camp as the favorite over Devlin. I wouldn't be surprised if they want that young QB to take over the #2 job next season and let Matt Moore walk into free agency. A guy like Murray would fit that idea, not sure Morris would. Jordan Rodgers doesn't fit that idea either.

I'm a big fan of Murray living in GA and seeing all the UG games on local TV. Some compare him to Russell Wilson.

How are two prospects that are projected to go in the 6th round at best, likely going into the NFL as free agents, "very very high risk"...?

Somebody doesn't understand high risk. i think Henderson is worth the gamble even if its a very small gamble

Omar Kelly has us taking Morris in round six of his latest mock in the Sun Sentinel.

Henderson is the Cane I don't want us to touch. He never did anything of consequence with UM. I don't care about his physical skillset (which IMHO is a bit exaggerated). He has no work ethic or desire. And I'm not convinced he's 100% health-wise in regards to his back. He's fools gold to me. Id much rather spend a pick on Linder if we are taking an O-lineman from UM.

Can't be any worse then Pat Devlin who hasn't done jack.

Henderson has BUST written all over him.

That settles that. Who would know better ?

Morris' best NFL position is Hail Mary specialist. Amazing arm.

I took some grief on Canes sites last spring by denouncing Morris as a prospect. Those sites were trying to hype him into the second or third round after he aced a top skills camp. Meaningless. He's awful in recognition and in the red zone. It's either big play or nothing. Smart teams like Virginia Tech continually baited Morris. Imagine how that translates to the NFL.

BTW, he's also considered a bit of a jerk, according to people who have dealt with him on campus and at hangouts. If he's impressing the Dolphins he's massaging his personality to do so.

I believe Morris will be drafted late, 6th or 7th round.

Best Canes prospect relative to others at his position is O'Donnell the punter. Incredibly poised and advanced, able to make the ball do whatever he wants. I'll be surprised if he doesn't stick in the league for many years, perhaps a decade or more.

Linder is a tenacious overmatched athlete, a guy who you admire until he has to start. Henderson isn't quite the athlete he was touted to be but still owns many strengths, and virtually every off field concern has been minor. I think he'll be drafted earlier than expected and be a superior pro than most Canes fans prefer to believe. There's some animosity there because a 5-star kid didn't fully pan out.
