Bengals | Team may be closer to reaching a contract agreement with Harrington
Mon, 3 Apr 2006 19:49:19 -0700
Armando Salguero and Jason Cole, of the Miami Herald, report the <A href="http://www.kffl.com/team/12/nfl">Cincinnati Bengals appear to be moving closer to a contract agreement with Detroit Lions QB Joey Harrington. The Bengals remain a strong contender to land Harrington because they have their full complement of draft picks.

a seventh this year and a 6th next

you guys are giving these crappy picks way too much value

This is the full report that KFFL got the newsbit from:

The Dolphins and Lions took a pause from the Joey Harrington trade negotiations Monday but the teams are expected to resume talks today. At this juncture, the quarterback seems ready to go to either Miami or Cincinnati.

The Dolphins and Harrington's agents "seem to be in the same ballpark," on a contract, according to a source close to the negotiations, but an NFL source said Harrington and the Bengals also are close on a potential contract.

Harrington's agents have permission to negotiate with both teams.

But nothing can be completed without the Lions agreeing to a trade, and that is holding things up now.

The Lions want a sixth-round pick or better, but the Dolphins, handicapped because they don't own a sixth- or fifth-rounder this year, seem willing to give one of their three seventh-rounders.

It is unclear if the sides could agree to compensation involving multiple seventh-rounders or a pick in the 2007 draft.

The Bengals remain a strong contender to land Harrington because they have their full complement of draft picks.

Denver and Kansas City have also shown interest in Harrington.

Ixnay on giving Detroit 2 picks. To other coaches a 7th rounder is camp fodder, to Saban its a solid backup/potential future starter (Kevin Vickerson anyone?) One 7th rounder is enough for a backup QB.

its gonna be a real drag if Cleo is our opening day starter because we got cheap with picks

all 7th rounders are camp fodder. We will see what becomes of Vickerson.

No, what will be a real drag is that if we don't get Harrington, Maddox could be our opening day starter. :(

a backup DT with no experiance is more important than a backup QB with 4 years?
