Merged: The Results Are In: Worst Draft Pick as Polled by Finheaven Gurus????

Yeah, but Yatil only played a few college games because he was always injured and missed time. Granted it was "just" a hamstring. He didn't have major injures in college, but he had a HUGE history of missing time.

mmhmm. Anyway, though, "Bust" doesn't necessarily mean it was the player's fault, it just means the player fell extremely short and usually didn't accomplish much, regardless of why.

Eric Kumerow was a DE from Ohio State if I recall correctly. 6-7 260lbs but was very physically weak and not very quick. BLESTO has him rated as the #1 DE in the draft and believe it or not other teams had him highly rated that year.

We traded him to Chicago for CB Vestee Jackson, Chicago moved him to TE last I had heard.

Hey can some on tell me the History on Eric Kumerow, he is a really good friend of my Dad and hes a really good guy and he is huge, like 6'6 or something but I never knew the history all any one told me was the he was a 1st rounder for the dolphins. I think its kinda funny reading up on it and finding out he was a bust. They told me that he was like a DE and then went to the NFL as a LB or it might be vice versa Im not to sure.

avery...yatil kept gettin hurt...he cant do anything to avoid that. dont forget that this guy BALLED when he was healthy in preseason til he got hurt too

I see a LOT of people here are quite young.

Yatil Green was injured so he gets a pass. John Avery was one of those Jimmy Johnson "you can take the BIG risk and win big or play it safe an be average" picks.

Worst Phins draft picks begin and end with names like:

Jackie Shipp & Jay Brophy: Picked in the 1st and 2nd round in 1984. The team needed an injection of youth and talent on defense and came up with this crap. This was the beginning of Don Shula's years of incompetent drafting that would sink Dan Marino's chances of winning a title.

Lorenzo Hampton: The team needed a young runner (even though, it could be argued Joe Carter was already on the team and the team could have drafted defense again). He has some moments but I consider him a stiff.

Rick Graf: John Bosa was drafted in the first round but I give him a pass as well because of injury. He was actually a pretty decent player who could never stay healthy. Rick Graf on the other hand just could'nt play.

Eric Kummerow: The incompetence continues. Eric Kummerow was the definition of a reach. He carried a mid rounds grade and we got sucked in by measureables.

Sammie Smith: Still looking for a good running back. He had no heart. As soon as things went bad (the fumbles) he let them spiral out of control.

Billy Milner and Andrew Greene: Two MAJOR reaches and the beginning of the end for Shula. Milner was a stiff and got traded and Greene never played a snap.
Excellent history lesson.............Sammy Smith was still a reach!

I know he missed time at the U but like you said it was mostly tweaked hammys and turned ankles. The knock on him was he wouldn't play hurt. JJ even went so far as to get him to promise he would play through the little stuff. That's not what ultimately did him in.

probably Dan Marino cause we could've traded up and took Elway and won a couple Super Bowls.

idiocy..........

a couple of Scott's, Schwedes (WR) and Secules (QB), I believe each drafted in the second round? Although I could be wrong... Since nobody mentioned them, I thought I should throw them out there... although, the top prize certainly goes to Kumerow. And that Kiper reaction is still etched in my mind, I think ESPN had to go to commercial break so they could get some game tape on the guy. It was our equivalent of Jeff Lageman (DE) whom the Jets fans were completely devestated by.
