Pro Day Workouts

Some notibles from FSU's Pro Day Workout.

Antonio Cromartie CB 6-2 3/4 203 ran the 40 in 4.39 and 4.37. Did an amazing 3.89 in the short shuttle. Only had a 32-inch vertical.

Ernie Sims LB 5-11 1/4 234 ran his 40s in 4.55 and 4.48.

Brodrick Buckley 6-2 5/8 304 showed amazing agility in performing the short shuttle in 4.16. Take in account that Richard Marshall ran the short shuttle 4.37 at his Pro Day.

The name of the Navy FB is Kyle Eckel. I know he left us for a tour of duty but when is he due back? And does he have good hands?

- I would trade down for Cromartie (great size/speed, has to be more physical though)

- Sims is a tackling machine but w/off field issues

- Bunk will be the first DT taken imo, even before Ngata. 4.16 shuttle time?

I'm not sure when Kyle will be back. I't only been six month since his tour began.

Sims off the field incident was out of character for him so no one should hold it against him. He could be an outstanding 4-3 OLB.

I was surprised by Bunkley's time as well. I thought it was a misprint the first time I read it. Was arrested in 2003 for stealing a video game. Something he says he regrets and chalks it up to being young and immature.

NCAA | Cutler has strong Pro Day throwing performance
Fri, 17 Mar 2006 13:53:17 -0800

Bryan Mullen, of the Tennessean, reports Vanderbilt QB Jay Cutler had a strong throwing performance at his Pro Day workout Friday, March 17. Cutler threw about 50 passes to former Vanderbilt WRs Brandon Smith, Erik Davis and TE Dustin Dunning. In swirling winds, Cutler made almost every throw from short out patterns to deep balls. Representatives from 25 NFL teams witnessed an ideal throwing performance by Cutler in less ideal conditions.

Cortland Finnegan, Samford DB 5-9 7/8 188 ran the 40 in 4.35 and 4.33
Had a 44-inch vertical and ran the short shuttle in 4.34

Was and a 1st team Ohio Valley Conference safety and return specialist. He led Samford and was 4th in the conference in tackles with 98. He also had 1 int, seven passed defended, forced one fumble, recovered one fumble and block one kick.
Finnegan led the conference and was 8th in the nation in punt returns, averaging over 15 yards per return. He also led the conference in kick off returns with over 25 yards per return, finishing 22nd nationally.
Was named 2003 OVC Defensive Player of the Year.

In his first race of the track season, he almost set a school record in the 60 meter dash by running a 6.96.

I never saw him play and will probably be a late second day pick up or FA. He would probably get a shot with someone just because of his athletic abilities. Could end up being a special team ace.

This doesn't surprise me that he would have a strong Pro Day performance.

Man I'm telling you, there's going to be plenty of talented prospects available in the late rounds & un-drafted FA, and guess which coach will have a slight advantage ... :hail: SABAN

Finnegan's 44-inch vertical will make teams overlook his 5-9 height.

word is that j. williams ran a 4.37 (unconfirmed) at va. tech's pro day. if true, he probably won't be in our reach come draft day.

I hear that DeMeco Ryans ran a 4.66 at Alabama's pro day. I imagine that hurts his first round prospects...

He ran his two 40s in 4.66 and 4.67. Which was close to the same times he ran at the combine.

That kind of speed will help stretch the middle of the field for some team.

North Carolina

DE Tommy Davis 6' 2" 257 did 34 reps of 225 pounds, a team-high.

CB Cedrick Holt 5' 11" 190 ran a 4.4

WR Jarwarski Pollock 5' 8" (little dude) 170 also ran 4.4

3/22
Virginia

OT D'Brickashaw Ferguson did 26 reps of 225 bench press and ran a 5.09 40.

QB Marques Hagans 5' 10" 209 ran a 4.56 and 4.53. "...Virginia coach Al Groh thinks Hagans versatility will be valuable in the NFL." 'How many guys can say that during the course of their careers they returned punts, were the personal protector on the punt team, covered kickoffs, caught passes out of the backfield, caught passes as a wide receiver, threw the ball and ran with it.' 'That says a lot about his versatility and his competitiveness and his willingness to do whatever it takes.'

Do you think Hagans will be drafted?

Not very impressive. I know Brick has really long arms but still.
