Last year/This year there were/have been countless articles that show some players were with Kap, and some were not...never said hated, it does not need to be hate to put players on two different sides, why do you think they say do not talk politics with anyone including friends .
Last year some players did kneel along with Kap, and other did not want any part of it. In this happen, it proves that it has become a big deal, if it wasn't, this would not have grown to as big an issues as it has.
Last year, people on that organization admitted it was a distraction to the team. A distraction is a very good way to get a team to not play up to highest level.
This off-season, the 49ers that had no real QB, released a QB like Kap that had talent, and helped them a while back to go to a Superbowl.
The issue is not who did you vote for, or which political party is better, the issue is, should you disrespect the flag, (and all the Soldiers who died for it to keep your freedom), on Sunday by kneeling, or standing during the national anthem.
If Kap had found a better way to make his point outside of the sport most people love, there would be no issue, but Kap found a way to make a political and continue to try and make himself relevent...it backfired, and he is out of football.
