Former Miami Dolphins Head Coach Tony Sparano Passes Away

This is extremely sad news. Sparano wasn't a great coach, but he was better than many of us (myself included) appreciated him for at the time. He had the unfortunate luck of being saddled down with mind-numbingly BAD personnel moves, first by Parcells, then by Ireland. Then, to pour salt on the wound, both men failed to take accountability for their mistakes, passing all of the heat off on Tony. As some in this thread have pointed out; the way Coach Sparano conducted himself during the Harbaugh debacle showed a measure of strength, dignity, and class that a weasel like Jeff Ireland could never understand. R.I.P Coach Sparano. We'll all be down here "fist pumping" like crazy after the first field goal of the regular season. May you find eternal peace and happiness in the great beyond of an afterlife.

RIP Tony

The details coming out are making this already tragic situation even worse....

He went to the hospital on Thursday complaining of chest pain, was tested and released by doctors Friday??

Dead in his kitchen on Sunday? how the **** does that happen....

Doctors not doing their job!!!

Doctors not doing their job!!!

It’s not that simple, man. I’m not going to go into it and derail this thread, but medicine is complex and there are so many outside factors that it not always about the doctor. You can’t make this statement without knowing what was going on behind the scenes.

I don't know what his diet or family history was like, but you got to believe that stress played a large role in his heart attack. Football coach is one of the most stressful jobs out there and it can contribute to heart problems in addition to other factors.

I always liked Tony's intensity and directness. He was a good guy. I know most of the players really liked him...

Really tuff loss for the family... Thoughts with them...

So many times I think fans here are rude and heartless with some of their statements about players and coaches. I'm glad to see everyone here being respectful and kind.
I agree. Far too often people don't think a player or a coach is good enough so they start to hate him as a person which is totally wrong.

yeah I try to do my best to say I think they do a shitty job not that I hate them. One of the times I was most ashamed of myself was when I found myself cheering when pat white got knocked out. I disliked the pick, it was a waste of a pick, pat white was useless to us, and I guess the nfl. but I jumped up and screamed at the tv, that's why you shouldn't be in the damn league and why we shouldn't drafted you, stay the f down!! (granted I was more than likely intoxicated), went outside to smoke and my old roomie came out and was like "you're boy is still out cold" I just said **** and put out the cig and went back inside. so yeah disapprove of them on the team or on the field but some of these guys are top notch people away, where as at the same time, some we like and think are awesome cause they are great for the team on the field, so we cheer them, and praise and raise them up, are complete P-O-S
