This is extremely sad news. Sparano wasn't a great coach, but he was better than many of us (myself included) appreciated him for at the time. He had the unfortunate luck of being saddled down with mind-numbingly BAD personnel moves, first by Parcells, then by Ireland. Then, to pour salt on the wound, both men failed to take accountability for their mistakes, passing all of the heat off on Tony. As some in this thread have pointed out; the way Coach Sparano conducted himself during the Harbaugh debacle showed a measure of strength, dignity, and class that a weasel like Jeff Ireland could never understand. R.I.P Coach Sparano. We'll all be down here "fist pumping" like crazy after the first field goal of the regular season. May you find eternal peace and happiness in the great beyond of an afterlife.
