Fitzpatrick's Routine

This years #1 goes a long way toward changing the attitude around this team. His example will have an effect throughout the team and raise the level of commitment in everybody Aqua and Orange.

There's no guarantee that he's going to be a great player but it seems like a lot of signs are pointing that way.

I hope the product he puts on the field is as good as his seemingly amazing locker room presence and attitude when it comes to working.

The most impressive thing about Minkah to me was how hard of a worker he was, and how high his football IQ is. Our defense at Alabama is multiple, with all sorts of variations. We change from 3-4 to 4-3, to 3-3-5, to 2-3-6, to 4-2-5. All the gap assignments change with every front. Not only did Minkah have them all memorized, he had them all memorized from multiple positions in the secondary. Just extraordinary.

I hope the translates to him becoming a star for Miami.

Slimm - Granted, you're an Alabama guy, but how good do you think Minkah can be? How long do you think it will take him to become a real Defensive weapon?

This isnt actually the main point of the article, but I thought this was an interesting insight into our first round pick

Great post. Love Fitzpatrick. Wish we had the level of talent we have at S throughout the roster. I wonder how closely Burke is watching tape of Bama to ensure Fitzmagic (too soon?) is used to his documented strengths. I would have to think they are all over that.

First of all, don't ever think that my love for Alabama in any way biases my evaluation of talent across the country. I assure you that's has never been the case. Anybody that's paid any attention over the years can attest to that. I've always made it a point to let it be known the Alabama players I would shy away from in my draft threads (Cyrus Kouandjio, etc.)

Sixpatrick will be a real defensive weapon as a rookie. Once he learns the defense, he'll be the guy that helps everybody else on defense be the best THEY can be. He'll always have them in the right positions to be successful. Whether they succeed or not is up to them. His impact won't always be felt in the box score (INT's, PBU's, etc.) - a lot of times his impact will be felt when coaches go back and watch the film. Miami's defensive rankings as a unit will climb.

Great read, this kid is gonna be a dog! Never bought a rookie jersey, but Minkah's is hanging in the closet till it's go time in a few weeks!

His play will make it so Miami won't be able to take him off the field.

Best Dolphin pick in the draft since Jason Taylor.

The 4x QB drafted in the top 10 is the only reason we had a chance at him. Gase played the offseason perfectly and I think the smokescreens actually worked this year....

With Minkah joining the D and Tannehill coming back to lead the O, you can make a very strong argument that our #1 player on both sides of the ball will be new this year

Look up and down the depth chart. Not a diva in sight. All I see is professionalism, strong work ethics and great attitudes. If that's not a recipe for success, I don't know what is...

All the new additions walk the walk.

I see McCain is working on the outside and listed as the #2 CB but I'm not sure he will end up there. TJ McDonald is still listed as the starting safety but he may not end up there. It is nice to have the versatility.

If for some reason McCain does play outside, Minkah can slide into the slot. He could also end up single high with TJ coming in the big nickel or dime. The emergence of McTyer will only help.

Anthony is listed as the starting OLB but I have a feeling we are going to run with 5 DB's much more in 2018. We ran base 36% of the time last year which ranked 9th most in the league. I think that will drop drastically. We ran nickel 60% and dime only 1%.

NE used base less than anyone last year at only 15%. (The next team (Min) ran 21%.) NE ran dime 37% of the time.

Somehow Fitzpatrick is even better than I thought/ and I was super high on the kid. He is the type of player that makes you look for his number on defense when you are watching a game. JT was a special talent here. Sam Madison I thought was special. To me Zach was more effort than anything. This kid is special.
