Foles And A Qb Round 1? Sign Me Up

I think Foles has been really darn good past few years but it seems odd to go after a 20mil/yr qb if were rebuilding. BUT the chiefs went after Alex Smith and then grabbed Mahomes a year or 2 later so i guess with todays rookie contract structure it can be done.

Alex was in KC a good 3 maybe 4 years before they drafted Mahomes if I recall right.

Throwing money at Foles and it will cost a hell of a lot probably even more that what we would be paying Tannehill, is taking one small step forward but going two back. He's a lot better than what we have at the position, no question on that but the rest of the team around him is not ready for him to excel. We just don't have the parts, like Tannehill he needs a stacked team. So why pay through the nose to get similar results ?

We absolutely need to draft a QB in the next couple of years, and not with a mid round selection that you hope to develop. I actually like the 2019 class better than most do, here's what I would do in order of preference, after the first most important move of cutting Ryan Freaking Tannehill:

2019 draft
1. Sell the damn farm for Kyler Murray, the kid is a difference maker, he'll immediately raise the excitement level around the franchise, will his 5'9" body stand up to the NFL ? Who knows but if anyone is worth a shot it's the Heisman winner.
2. Get aggressive and move up for Dwayne Haskins. This kid is really really good, I took a close look at him down the stretch, last year, and I really do see a polished QB with a high ceiling, don't be fooled by the one year starter stuff, this kid is legit and worth moving up for.
3. Stay put at 13 and draft Drew Lock if he's there. There are some questions about the guy, but again I watched a lot of his games towards the end of the 2018 season and he's an intriguing prospect, I wouldn't be happy to trade needed draft stock to get him but if he fell in our laps, snap him up.
4. Trade down in the first or up in the second to get Will Grier. Arm strength is a concern but the kid is a baller, in the end think he will probably go late 1st.
5. Draft Easton Stick in the 2nd. This one could move up my wish list as we go through the draft process. As with all the other 4 on this list I would have zero problems in using a first on him. Stick is an under the radar guy who may end up being tremendous value for one lucky team.
6. Add Gardner Minshew with a mid round pick, this is a tanking scenario where you hope you strike it lucky on a late draft pick.

2020 draft
1. Suck so bad that we can draft Tua (I'm not even going to bother spelling his last name) with our first round pick. This scenario assumes we've not addressed the QB problem in 2019 or the QB we took hasn't panned out.
2. First round pick on Jordan Love of Utah State (assuming the Junior as he'll be declares). Under the radar guy that CK turned me on to. Just youtube his highlights here's one Prototypical size, cannon arm very accurate.

3. Scout closely Justin Herbert, next year and get a feel for where you are comfortable drafting him. Right now I'm a little conflicted on the guy, seen a lot of great and some bad with him. Can't help thinking he may be another Marriota, same college, similar stats etc. That may be a good or bad thing depending on how much you like Marriota.
4. Scout Jake Fromm. I'm very, very underwhelmed by this kid, but people keep telling me how great he is but all I see is a game manager that locks the "IT" factor. Is he worth a first, I'm passing if it's me and he performs at a similar level next year.

Man you guys better buckle up if you don't know what a full rebuild entails

I would love for us to go sign Nick Foles this offseason and then draft a QB in round 1 of 2019 or 2020. Hell maybe both!

Its obvious these days that if you don’t have a QB then everything else is almost a moot point. Doesn’t matter what you do at other positions until you get that franchise guy. Then u can start to add other pieces.

Find the right QB and build depth there too. Sign Foles to a 3/4 year deal, draft one or two more QBs and develop them. And even if they are ready before Foles contract is up we can trade him like KC did with Alex Smith.

I am not saying that Foles is some world beater. He isn’t. He’s a game manager, but he would be an instant upgrade at the position, Chad Pennington style.

Side Note:
I’m over the tanking talk. You don’t have to tank to get your guy. Find the right guy, target him and make the move to get him. KC and Philly didn’t need to tank, they just grew some balls and made it happen.

Now your talking to me!

Regarding Foles - call me crazy but while Wentz might be their future, they are better w Foles. Wentz plays in the SB they probably don’t win. Foles had to play a flawless game and he did. Would Wentz have been as perfect? And then this year, Eagles don’t even make the playoffs if not for Foles. He’s a money player. They win this game today at NO and he’s going to be one of the highest paid QBs in football next year.

Shhh...hoping we sign Foles!

Accumulate picks wherever possible and go full rebuild once the coach, staff, philosophy and system are in place. Foles will be retired by the time we are significant again. Let's do it.

Foles is the anti-rebuild, and I don't like him much anyways. Think he's a perfect fit for THEIR system.

Foles would win 6-8 games here. No thanks.

Last year in the postseason I saw all rpo based system qb with foles. This year I see more than that.

Made himself a lot of money this coming offseason.

May very well be a late bloomer. Kinda still feel like he’s gonna land in the 2 year deal window though.

So if Foles was supposed to be the potential saviour of the Dolphins and just got shut down by the Saints will there be threads calling for Dennis Allen to be back in the frame for HC?
