Yes... let’s keep avoiding QB’s and get more picks that mostly won’t contribute.
I know that this will probably fall on deaf ears with many on this board but what is the sense in sacrificing valuable draft capital and getting a QB in this year's draft that "just might" work for the future of the team while not addressing the trenches? I am not saying that you personally have advocated for it but many on this board have used the "do whatever it takes" to move up and get a QB this year. I don't subscribe to that line of thinking since I think they need a more methodical approach to filling as many holes in core positions before they address the QB position. If the trenches are bad this year and next because the team trades away all the draft capital to take a flyer on a QB this year, just to take a QB, what good is that QB going to do for the future of the team when he is running for his life or the defense can't stop the opponent and they aren't able to keep up in a shoot-out.
There is an article on CBS today about regrading the 2016 draft. Many say that we should be more like the Patriots but read that article and see what a colossal failure their draft was while the Dolphins' draft still looks pretty good in hindsight. In fact, the Patriots have swung and missed more in their drafts than many are willing to admit. https://expo.masslive.com/erry-2018/04/410234af9b3666/new_england_patriots_nfl_draft.html
Sure the Dolphins have been boneheads in their free agency signings for the past few years but the current regime seems to have a solid plan in ridding the team of those contracts and getting back to basics. Personally, I like what I am seeing and I hope that the discipline carries over to the draft and the rest of the off season and we see the team build a solid foundation. Once they do, then I would say "do whatever it takes" to get a franchise QB if that is the last piece needed.
