you had to work at the swamp with all those retarded frat boys for 5 years? dude, if i had to put up with that **** for that long i'd even start some sort of self loathing thing. that place is as unbearable as it gets as far as gainesville hangouts are concerned.
i also get the gator/tebow - patsy/brady analogy. they kind of have become a bandwagon/fanboy kind of team in the past few years and i can't fugging stand it. have never been a fan of the media and i've hated the non football related attention - third world circumcisions, arrests, *** hair electrolysis - the media has cursed us with the past few years. i obviously love tebow and what he's done for us - and college football for that matter (could there be a better role model for young athletes/fans?) - but there's been more coverage of him off the field than on. not cool.
but you do have to admit the REAL gator fans know football. the most knowledgeable football people i know are gator fans - and they don't like the same **** as either of us. look at the few of us that actually post in this forum - can you really say we don't know what we're talking about? it's obvious we do - and relay that fact pretty well IMO.
you're my favorite gator hater on this board man. always keeping it real - even if the obsession is borderline creepy.
and just for the record - i also think the '01 team would beat us. i thought our defense this year would match that one - but it didn't. i don't think it would be a blowout or anything - but matching up with that insanely stacked '01 team is just impossible. you guys would probably win that one 7 times out of 10.
Yet as much as I am a gator hater I have more connections and funny stories involving the gators than I do the Canes.
Met Channing Crowder quite a few times at the Swamp. He even got yelled at by the GPD one night for drinking there even though he was no longer with the Gators and was entering the draft. One GPD officer was trying to toss his drink and escort him out. Fortunately other officers intervened and calmed the situation down.
Had to kick out Riley Cooper from the Swamp once for getting into a fight and we had to quickly get him home before it became "news".
Speaking of Cooper, him and Tebow used to be my nieghbors. I've actually met Tebow many times and have had many good conversations with him. And now that you've caught me in a good mood, I'll gladly tell you that Tim is an outstanding guy and he is everything that everyone makes him out to be and then some. Though I don't have the same feelings for Riley. He's kind of a douche. In fact, one night after drinking heavily I went over to Cooper's Dodge Ram and cut off his plastic "truck nuts" with some garden shears. I'm sure he didn't find it as amusing as I did and eventually replaced it with some metal ones.
I've also done quite a bit of catering events for UF, Urban, and Tebow. I got to cater UF's powder puff event with the football team and all the sorority chicks. Also catered a private party for Urban after his charity golf tournament and met Shelly & the Strong family. And the most incredible was a catering event for the Tebow's Phillippine orphanage. I met all kinds of characters that night but best of all was Erin Andrews :d-day:. Scored a Florida Football with Urban and Tebow's signatures that night as well. Of course I had them address it to my wife and gladly gave it over to her. I even got to use Urban and Shelly's peronal tickets to a Gator basketball game once when Nike flew them out to Cancun.
So there you go. Who would have known that FinHeaven's notorious gator hater would have done so much with the Gator's and it's football team. You can certainly chalk up most of the hate to jealousy in thier football success (and the d-bag Frat and Sor kids at the Swamp) as you can see that I truly have a lot of respect for most of them. Alright though, that's about as much nice crap as I might ever hear me say about Florida. So on that note..
