A Match made in Finheaven

A real Dolfan is someone who has experienced disappointment with their team but does not love them any less when they lose. Even horribly. A real Dolfan should be able to tell others why they support the franchise, what about that team is significant to them and finally name all of the starters on both offense and defense and reasonably discuss the positives and negatives of their team, past, present and future. Not.. "Their jersey colors are COOL!" I guess this goes for any team, huh?

I have many posts also. You just cherry picked one. And came with stupid one liners. Then you decide to open your dictionary and delve into the utter nonsense of stupidity.

Here's the deal. If you thought MIA was a sure fire PLAYOFF team prior to the season. You deserve the disappointment you feel today. If you felt prior to the season, that Tannehill was the answer. You deserve the disappointment you feel today. If you felt prior to the season, that MIAMI would be Super Bowl bound. Then, yes, you deserve the utter failure this team was in reaching this goal.

I guess you thought my initial post was directed at you? It wasn't. I didn't cherry pick you at all.

As for my disappointment. I was hopeful Tannehill was the answer, but I have bashed him unmercifully. I didn't think we were a "playoff" team but I did expect improvement, not regression.

After 6 years, Ireland is a failure. After 2 years Phialbin and his ban of moron coaches are failures. And since I watched this team win a super bowl this team has been a failure.

But hey, if you're happy with it. Knock yourself out.

And yet they still couldn't turn up for the Bills-Dolphins game. Horrible fans. It's not like they have anything else to do up there. Buffalo is horrible. As for KC, they absolutely have loyal fans. This is where a basic understanding of business and demographics comes in handy. It doesn't even take any college courses, since it's mostly common sense. What are the demographic differences between a place like KC and a place like Miami? In KC, you have a bunch of fans who were born and raised KC fans. Most have families who have lived in the area for generations and many haven't even stepped foot outside of the state or maybe it's surrounding states in their lifetimes (I spent more than enough time in the midwest and south to know this is largely the case). I need to look into it, but I'm betting that they had sellout problems during their down seasons despite all that, and if they had a decade of it, they'd be having to worry about blackouts as well. That's one thing that transcends demographics.

Meanwhile, you have the population of Miami, in which something like only 20% have been born there. The rest are immigrants and northern transplants. Add in the fact that there is a hell of a lot more to do in Miami for entertainment, other sports that have successful teams to spend your money on, and a team that has been **** for well over a decade and this is what you get. And yet still they sell more tickets than the bills did at the end of the year. Are they going to compete with KC? Of course not. At least not for ticket sales. They never will unless they rebuild a perennial playoff team. Profitability? Miami is still the more profitable team despite being less successful over the past decade (16th vs 20th respectively). Miami still manages to have a larger national and international fanbase. Why? It's Miami.

As for predictions, I made mine pretty clear at the beginning of the season in the staff predictions. I continue to give this team too much credit apparently. It is funny that you lambast other fans for being disappointed, then go on to express your disappointment in the team and specifically Tannehill. A bit hypocritical.

The only joke about this fanbase is fans from other parts of the country blasting the local fanbase. Put your money where your mouth is. If you didn't go to nearly every home game this season, you are full of ****. "I go to one game every year but can't get the time to go to others," "Oh, I'm poor, I can't afford the plane tickets." Excuses.

Actually my disappointment in Tannehill is faux. I understand he is young and developing. I'm trying to prove a point. That this team, will go as far as he takes them. Period.

But don't get it twisted. Next year, he will have to sink or swim. No more excuses. No more kid gloves. No more LOW expectations.

Tannehill being young and raw, I am/was willing to cut him and this team some slack. My disappointment, is measured. I'm not asking for firings. I'm not on here bashing Ireland or Philbin. It is what separates alot of us. You and the vocal echo chamber majority act as if someone stole your lunch and killed your woman.

As for going to a MIAMI home game. I haven't been down there in a long time. But I have gone to DEN, KC, DAL and INDY to name a few...since 2000. Also, I just don't like MIA as a city. I rather visit a cold MINN and enjoy the twin cities, than go down to South Beach. Not excuses...just don't care for the city of Miami.

Also, for KC fans. And your assumptions of that fan base. People from the surrounding states make that road trip. Those same people, are now making trips to OKC for the NBA season. So being born into the KC Chief family, is silly. My dad is a KC fan. Yet, I'm a MIA fan, one brother is a WSH fan and the other is a BUF fan. Many of my friends in KC, are DAL fans. And the die hard KC fans that I'm friends with. Their dads are DAL fans too.

Why on earth would you be a fan of a team from a city you hate? Makes no sense whatsoever. For example, I absolutely hate Dallas, so I can't imagine ever being a fan of a team there. But it is hilarious that you continue to blast the local fanbase when you haven't been to a Miami home game in years. Amazing. :bobdole:

I have no idea what you are trying to say in your last paragraph. I never said you were forced to be KC fan, but there is no doubt that many have chosen to continue to root for the home team their families have been for years. For most of the population of the Miami area, that is simply not the case. They either brought their loyalty for another team with them when they moved or they are new to American football. You really don't see the demographic difference between the cities and how that affects fanbase?

All led by Tannehill. He could have taken that next step and produced in December. But he didn't. Am I surprised.....not really. His playing days at TAM was a small window into Tannehill/Sherman results.

And why just the past 13 years? How about since at least 85? The great Don Shula couldn't beat Marv Levy. Dan couldn't find a running back he liked. And the FO did nothing for this franchise to get it looking past Dan. This fan base deserves this team. Sadly, I'm a fool too for loving this team.

The Great Don Shula has 347 wins..Levy? Not so much. Did the Bills stop the Bears from going undefeated? No. Levy direct the perfect season? No, it was The Great Don Shula who did. Back to back championships..Levy? No, it was THE GREAT DON SHULA.

My interest in your meanderings is faux, good day sir..or ma'am, whatever.

It happens. My love for the Dolphins developed growing up in Las Vegas, NV. I lived in Miami as an adult between 2004-2006 and ended up really disliking the city itself quite a bit. So, I love the Miami Dolphins but would never want to visit Miami itself ever again. I go to road games whenever I can.
