Both went all in to try and win a SB. Both run the Shanahan system. Shanahan is there, and a Shanahan guy is here. Both have small-ish QBs. Both had the highly paid WRs and the dominant offenses (for some period of time). That is where the similarities end.

The 49ers made deep playoff runs, including 2 SB appearances in the last 6 years. The Dolphins none, not a single playoff win.

Just prior, going back to 2011, the 49ers were also making deep playoff runs, and went to a SB as well. It didn't work out, they blew it up, went to the bottom, and built the whole thing right back up successfully to the point that in only 6 more years they were right back to the SB. The Dolphins for the last 25 years go nowhere, blow it up, and then go nowhere all over again.

Now it seems to have come undone for both teams again, but history repeats, and both teams seem to be handling things very differently. San Fran looks to be biting the bullet, making the hard choices, and starting over. Miami seems to be extending and pretending, once again.

Here is a list of what San Fran has done this off-season, they are clearly making the hard decision and breaking the whole thing down again rather than trying to extend and pretend mediocrity: https://ninernoise.com/49ers-free-a...-signings-departures-and-updates-01jnrt9n3t8n

They traded the aging and under-performing Deebo Samuel away while he still had some value. Today, they just told Brandon Aiyuk to go pound sand and seek a trade. We did the opposite and handed out big new deals for our guys, including the old one with a bad attitude (Tyreek), and we are still sitting on both of them with $60mm a year tied up in the position while we have massive roster holes elsewhere. The 49ers let a lot of their higher priced older guys walk in FA (like Dre Greenlaw), we give Jalen Ramsey a big new deal.

Most importantly, let's see what they do with Brock Purdy. Forget what you or I think, the broad view in the NFL is that Purdy and Tua are roughly equivalent QBs. Personally, I would take Purdy over Tua hands down. More durable, better scrambler, and more of a gamer. He has held up against better teams, and he has won playoff games and gone to a SB (4-2 career playoff record).

My strong suspicion is the 49ers will not just roll over and give him a 5 year contract at $55mm a year just because he is their starting QB. They will come up with numbers ($ and term) that are substantially lower, and tell him to take it or leave it. If the 49ers don't think they can get a deal done with him at something close to their numbers, they will part ways.

The 49ers are just a much more well run organization. They have discipline, and they make tough decisions, and they are the better talent evaluators as well. The proof is in the pudding. Their approach works, ours does not.

Great post! Yes back in 2011 they had a monster defense too. Straight killers on that team. Broke it down and ended up with more monsters on defense during their last couple runs. Just goes to show how bad our staff has been. There should be absolutely NO ONE here that has been part of the failure for so long. NO ONE, Down to the damn equipment boy. But Ross knows better than all of us. So yeah

49ers extended Aiyuk last off-season so they aren't without fault
They also were able to recover from trading 3 first round picks to us to draft Trey Lance
Since 2019, the 49ers have been to two super bowls and 4 NFC title games.
Lynch and Shanahan took their lumps the first two years but put it together by their third season.
There isn't really a comparison between the Dolphins and 49ers in their current iterations

San Francisco traded 3 1sts and a 3rd for Trey Lance.

Tell us again how much better run they are.

How many conference championship games and super bowls have we been to since that trade happened?
They made a mistake and recovered, which is an indication of a well run organization.

You people are beyond me. 3 SB appearances in the last 12 years, Miami not a single playoff win in 24 years. And you see no difference? I guess your rose colored glasses are quite opaque

Just curious, do the Miami Dolphins ever do anything wrong? Because you and a few others just defend this team like they are the greatest thing on earth.

I defend against inaccurate criticisms and people with agendas.

I’ve criticized the FO plenty and I’ve criticized Tua (but ya I think he’s pretty good)

I only call out the people who make stuff up like those who try to make it appear as if we’ve been bad the last couple years.

what was being made up?
your prediction for dolphins playoff wins this season?

Are all your posts about getting me to make predictions?

Your infatuation with me is getting concerning.

And most important of all, I wasn’t talking to you.

What exactly was made up in the OP?

I wasn’t quoted by the OP, I was quoted by you. Saying that I never criticize anything is just a fallacy.

I simply correct people when they are wrong, like your post about the Buffalo game.

What does it say about you that you got mad simply because I posted a highlight video from the Dolphins-Niners game?

Good luck trading Aiyuk, a guy going out for the season after a huge contract signing isn't exactly appealing to many teams

Purdy's going to get paid but the cracks were starting to show last year.
