Nice work by @thebiglead getting the Martin/Incognito texts. This one is starting to smell like Duke Lacrosse.

... And by Duke Lacrosse, I mean an overblown, bleeding-heart, low-hanging-fruit narrative that too many people took and ran with.

I wasn't remotely surprised by any of texts b/w Martin and Incognito. Not just normal for pro athletes. Normal for normal dudes that age.

More media members crawling out of their holes to admit they over exaggerated this story and didn't truly know what was going on. Haven't seen any real backtracking from ESPN media talking heads, but perhaps that is because they were the loudest of the bunch back in November.

More of those media types admitting that their were wrong or it was overblow would be great.

That's the thing. Not many will come out and retract their previous views on this whole thing because it all went down 3 months ago.

If that's normal for dudes that age, I'm proud to be abnormal.

Now the question for me is what was the FO thinking to banish Incognito...

LOL, like ESPN will ever redact a statement or segment. The only thing we could have hoped for was Ditka telling everyone else how wrong they were on a Sunday morning. But now the NFL season is over, and like you said ESPN and other news outlets will be concentrating on the Olympics, while sweeping the story under the rug. The real story of how wrong they were to rush judgment.

I hate to say it but after reading all of the texts and seeing how betrayed Incognito felt, I actually think he may be the victim in all of this.

Id think it was because he was in the middle of this whole thing and it might've looked bad for them to have him still on the team and playing while not welcoming Martin back.

How much pay did he lose? I forget. Was two weeks in the end? He is owed cash IMO.

Scary how the team reacted to this. Very typical of business and government nowadays. Suspend or fire..find facts later.

I am just waiting to hear from Tom Jackson.

When he & olbermann apologize; prepare for the Apocalypse.

Agreed. Better to err on the side of caution.

Sounds like it was just the straw that broke the camel's back, but also an effort to keep Richie from being badgered.

Due to the timing they won't, but ESPn hates being made to look like idiots. They looked awful during the Kobe rape case, and the Duke Lacrosse case. They didn't retract statements but it made for hilariously awkward tv.

And in this situation, yes Richie was a victim but he's far from a saint.

Remember how righteous TJ, Schefter, Cris Carter and Shannon Sharpe were over this?

Didn't Sharpe cry over this?

some posters should be retracting some of their statements also...they are usually found in the pofo
