Anyone else think Chris Leak will be a good NFL quarterback?

I'm not impressed. Weird delivery with a little bit of crank. Erratic passer who tends to float the ball downfield. That tendency will kill him in the NFL. Leak needs to stay in school the full four years and take advantage of two years with the new coaching staff. I watched the Gator postgame tonight and Urban Meyer was very pointed in his summation that Leak needs to understand the offense in general and Leak in particular are not close to where they need to be. I never discount a kid who was a high school phenom and looked great in the one high school allstar game I watched. Leak and Kyle Wright were considered the two best QBs entering college that year. Right now there are plenty of college QBs I'd prefer over Leak for the NFL, including Reggie McNeal of Texas A&M, who suffered a tough road loss tonight but has plenty of passing skill and athletic ability.

Not making judgement, but could that flag in your avatar have a little something to do with your statement? ;)

...Seriously though, I don't understand the comment about the weird delivery.
I'll reiterate this. Leak throws the prettiest, most accurate, and best velocity ball I have EVER SEEN from a collegiate QB.

Look, if all Leak was is physical talent, then I would not have made this thread.

But I am a HUGE believer in that "it" variable in QBs. Leak has it.

I think he'll be a good NFL Qb, and would rank him ahead of Omar Jacobs. USC would be a top 15 team with there backups, Pete Carroll is the best recruiter in the country, and here's something that I found really interesting, Carroll or Chow I forgot who, described there backup Qb, Booty, as the most talented Qb they've ever been around.

Speaking of getting on other players cases... I noticed that alot from Tyler Palko. He was yelling at every single one of his teammates whenever he was rushed or there was a penalty. Overall i was not overly impressed by him at all. the QB below, on the other hand...

Small is OK but small and inmobile ? Hes a good college QB and he had the best game of his career today but he is a long way from being Pro material yet.

Definitely not, he's no Vick, but he's far more mobile than most QBs in the NFL right now including what Miami has.

He is, he's a better athlete than Leinart.

Funny, Meyer ripped him after their win tonight. He said Leak has a long way to go in his development with his system. I think Leak will come out if Florida loses two or more games, or if they get the championship. If they lose one or two but return a lot of starters...he may find it hard to pass up the opportunity to go for a college championship.

Then again, with Jacobs, Leinart and maybe a couple of others looking like decent to go QB prospects...He may declare and try to it the jackpot...

I defintally agree with you about understanding the offense, sometimes i think he gets off the playbook and plays speratic but theres not to many QB's with as much raw talent as this guy. The defenses in the NFL will more then likely put a stop to the deep ball, something that college has yet to do to him. He needs to stay in Florida all 4 years defintally!!!!!

Following Leak career at Florida like I have, I can almost guarantee he will play his full 4 years at Florida. He's dedicated like that.

Meyer was obviously making a plea to keep Leak from getting complacent. That's even another point.

Let's say Leak doesn't fully know the system. Look how well he played. Just think of when he gets full grasp of it.

Also, Leak's work ethic is second to none in the NCAA.

Yeah I noticed that too. Exciting for Gator fans if he's not even fully into the system yet and still threw for 300ish yards and 3 TDs with 0 int's.

Maybe that's another reason I want him to be in the draft.

I'm an LSU guy.

Nice sarcasm.

I'm sure you do want a QB that never takes the blame. He was 18 btw, already an adult in his senior year of HS.

I'm sorry. Replace 15 with 18.

As you know, playing college football does nothing to mature players and ready them for the NFL. Why the Courts deemed Maurice Claurett inelgible for the NFL draft and why the NFL has the 20 year old rule in the first place I will never know.

Anyway, if Saban chooses him in the draft I will be disappointed because he has never seen his play as exhaustively as you have.

I am a huge Gator fan. I have been following them since I can remember. I still have a poster of Ben Hill Griffin stadium somewhere and Errict Rhett will forever be a favorite of mine! w00t!

If you say so.

That is quite possibly the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. Your being sarcastic right?
