Aponte not Hickey fired O'Neill

Why does every little thing need to be dissected. Just the Herald piling on to an already bad situation. It's well documented that the most people at the Miami Herald dislike the Dolphins.

Not sure if this really matters but if what the Herald says is true kind of makes me laugh. Why would the cap specialist fire the head trainer who is in Indy with the GM and HC and not the GM or HC? Someday maybe this will all go away. For now, it just continues to pile on.

Maybe it's not a big deal at all but still seems odd. Don't know too many teams who's cap person has that kind of job description. Maybe I'm wrong.

It's not a big deal because her job title gives her the right to fire him if she did but you made it a big deal with this thread.

Why would it not be Aponte that fires the trainer? She is the Executive Vice President of Football Administration. Trainers and medical staff fall under admin.

Because according to Ross during the GM hiring process he said Philbin would be in charge of the coaching staff and 53 man roster....now it looks like the reports from the GM candidates stating they didn't get the impression they would be in charge are ringing true......

Ross keeps making one mistake after another. He fires Sparano, but keeps Ireland. He makes Aponte a VP (probably because she has league connections), and she teams up with clueless Philbin to get rid of Ireland. When Ross fired Ireland he should have made a clean sweep, but kept Aponte and Philbin. If Ross had just got rid of Ireland along with Sparano and hired a new GM and a "real" Head Coach after the 2011 season, this team would probably be in a better situation right now.

Some of you must be miserable in your lives that you must worry about such trivial things about this team. Who the hell cares who fired who? lol

Aponte calls the shots. She is the defacto Czar of the Miami Dolphins. Philbin and Hickey are basically her underlings.

Could it be any more obvious? I mean, she writes speeches for Philbin. It's a Bush/Cheney dynamic.

Aponte wants power. Aponte could be a CFO.

take it for what anyone wants.

i've seen this movie.

bushcheney reference is meaningless.

Following a football team at all is trivial.

That being said, what makes it relevant is that no one knows exactly who is in charge of what, or who answers to whom. It's why our owner ended up with his fifth choice of GM or something like that, and several coaching candidates turned him down.

It was Ross' decision. He wanted O'Neill's cooperation with the investigation and didn't get it. That Ross had someone under him relay the message doesn't make a difference. O'Neill screwed up all on his own and got what people get for that kind of screw up.

O'Neil was the strength and conditioning coach right?. Looking at Jerry, Incognito and the other linemen with keg bellies...I would say that he was not doing his job. Martin was unbelievably weak at the point of attack.
We needed some new blood there. He was on cruise control.
He was likely fired for not following orders to cooperate. He had to see this coming.

In the end firing a trainer is not going to cause us to lose or win games, which makes bitching about Aponte pointless.

I personally don't like Aponte and I hope O'Neill sues the crap out of them

O'Neill is NOT the strength and conditioning coach. That would be Darren Krein
