Armando: Dolphins still plan on drafting a running back

say what you want about d thomas and trust me i get some of it especially the blown pass protections where he couldnt even handle a slot corner blitzer one on one but he looked way better as a ball carrier than mike gillislee did...way better...gilly looked horrid in the preseason...looked like joe mcknight as a ball carrier

I thought that over the year DT ran harder than Miller but with fewer openings. Pass protect and short yardage were a liability.

d thomas did run harder and thru more contact than miller...outside of the last game of the season miller went down at a stiff wind...but man were they both bad in pass pro over the course of 16 games...cant run this kinda o we ran with that level pass pro from the rbs...same for lazors o those backs at uva were required to do a lot...

short yardage was a liability didnt matter who we put back there cause we got man handled at the los in those scenarios by every front we faced...that's on the oline more than anything other than shermans tendencies...

we do need a better short yardage and milk late leads back option with more power and good pad level...but he also has to pass protect and guys like jeremy hill who i love doesnt pass the pass protect eyeball test off his lsu work

the addition of moreno should help but he's not a top end speed or accelearation back...he's gonna likely get what is given to him...so miami would be wise to beef up the oline...make the best 8 keepers possible by making it a point of emphasis still in the draft...don't just get 8 olinemen get 8 quality ones

Who are you targeting in the 4th round? Not sure who is available at that point. I like kadeem carey that might be low for him

Both were bad in pass protect in the first few games, and then improved with Miller doing better than DT. JMO

Hill is still developing in pass protection. He just needs to be coached up. The backs at LSU aren't a big part of the passing game like they were when Joseph Addai was there. He just needs to keep his head up and he'll stop whiffing on blitzers. Simple as that. He'll be coached on it. He has the natural size and strength to hold up to it. Secondly, he splits a lot of reps with Terrence Magee and an entire stable of NFL caliber backs.

I like his ball security. 371 touches from scrimmage at LSU and only 1 fumble. Attributed to those huge 10 3/8" hands.

I think Miami probably looks at a big back later in the draft like Lorenzo Taliaferro or Terrance West. But they'd be smart to grab Hill early... they'll get a shot at it.

I see them dropping Daniel Thomas and Marcus Thigpen. Im a Thigpen fan be they can fill the return role with a guy like Gillislee who is younger and cheaper. Thomas just doesn't fit anymore.

Miller-Moreno-Draft Pick- Gillislee

My hope is we trade down in the first and pick up an extra pick (second/third) and take an RB with that extra pick they get.

Plaese show the door to Thomas, Gillislee, and Thigpen (Place Miller) on watch if he dosn't learn to pick up a blitzing LB or Safety

This screams Jeremy Hill imo. Hopefully his past issues allows him to slide to us.

Will Hyde be there in the 2nd?

Should go in the top of the 2nd along with Jeremy hill. At least according to nfldraftcountdown. No RB in the 1st round according to them which seems right with the lack of importance teams are placing on RBs. i would be ecstatic that means mason could fall to us in the 2nd

Hyde would be Awesome! What if we took Mosley@19 Trade a late rd pick to move up in the 2nd and take Moses. Then Borland in the 3rd. Sankey in the 4th. Then for our 5th a Speedy WR/KR/PR specialist..???

Thomas and Thigpen will be the 2 that will be cut. Draft a 5th round RB/SP specialist.

Gillislee isn't going anywhere........
