ARTICLE: Andre Johnson trade to Dolphins makes the most sense

Myers is making $5 million in 2014 and $6 million is 2015.

Pouncey is making just over $1.6 million in 2014 and just over $7.4 million in 2015.

with those numbers myers may well be asked to take a cut soon...that number for pouncey in 2015 stands out also for a needs to be reworked

If you remember we exercised the 5th year option on Pouncey. I think it is 75% of the highest 10 salaries for his position
Can't lower it unless we give him a long term deal.

From what I've been reading, the money is guaranteed for injuries only prior to the start of the 2015 regular season at which time it becomes fully guaranteed.

Poor wording on my part. I was referring to the contract they will have to sign Pouncey to in order to keep him and make the trade viable, which will only be a little less than the superior Mack's contract (unless the Phins resign him, in which case it will likely be more, because, Phins).

Yep, its like a 7.4M option if he does well this year. If he sucks we can get out of it. Unless he gets injured.

I don't know why you think the fins would automatically overpay for him. I think they've only overpaid Wallace and Finnegan. everyone else seems fair. but every team has a few players that are over paid.

He's old.

and according to most reports about pouncey's ability to play center, i'd say he's top 3. maybe that's too high. top 5.

I already addressed that. I'd still take the veteran that keeps himself out of the news, will actually play this year, and pick a Center in next year's draft to groom behind him. Of course, I was hoping they would pick a center this year to get that ball rolling so we could move on. Hopefully they don't make the same mistake in the next draft.

hard to fill all 5 spots of the oline in one offseason. I am shocked and impressed with what they did so far. who knows, maybe a center can be picked up next offseason.

Again, look at the patriot salaries and tell me who are you are converting salary to bonus. It is easy to do, The players always accept it. But the Patriots have done that too many times already.

You can only do that if you have a decent salary to begin with.

I'm sorry but you are completely clueless on this topic. Just over 45 million of the Patriots total salary cap for 14-15 is non-guaranteed money, so to answer your question, any portion of that 45 million can be guaranteed over any of number of players that are carrying un guaranteed contracts. You can repeat false information all you like but it will never make it true, I just showed you 45 million dollars of cap space that can be converted to guaranteed bonuses, so not only could the Patriots easily create 5 million in cap space, they could do it 9 times if they so chose to.
