Article on Redskins / Lions draft intentions - We may have one less potential QB pick

The problem is the Lions at #3. The Redskins should and prob will fall in love with Chase Young at #2.

But Detroit would trade back for more picks I'm almost positive. Patricia needs to win now and if picking up an extra 1st round pick in this draft is on the table, I bet they take it. So that makes other teams come into play, especially the Raiders w jackasses Mayock and Gruden. They could be in Love with Tua. Gruden has never met a QB he didnt fall in love with, especially one that's won multiple national championships. The Raiders have picks #12 and #19. They have the ammo. Oakland is the team I'm worried about.

So to be safe, if we are 100% in love with Tua and hes def the guy everyone in the front office wants, they almost have to trade up to at least #3 to get him. If we want Herbert then wait till #5 bc even if hes not there, hes not the blue chip recruit Tua is. There is a "Herbert" type qb in every draft.

Who is this? no one in this draft class meets the criteria

I have reservations on Grier as well. His track record has been less than stellar so far. Only thing I can give him props for so far is building up that draft capitol and fixing that cap mess left by Tannenbaum. I just hope he knows how to use it.

I do not want to trade up. We have too many holes and need all of the pics we have. Between Burrow, Herbert and Tua the edge rusher from Ohio state, the corner back everyone likes and a tackle there will be plenty of people to choose at five
a) we won't fill all the holes in one offseason
b) tired of settling for doing jack **** aboot the most important position. Hebert feels like settling. **** me if Tua and Burrow crush it and we get a dud
c) chase young won't fall to 5
d) get a tackle to protect who? a lame duck QB?
e) a CB won't float my boat since we have the highest paid one already

If Tua is there at 5 and we don't take him then there must be a reason for it. If Flores really want him at 5 then Grier would draft him for sure so them passing on him would mean either he's not getting a good enough medical report or there's something else they don't like about him.

IDK why so many people buy into articles and rumors like these. A big part of the draft poker game is the releasing of misleading info.

IMO it's akin to trade rumors in all sports. Some of them actually happen, but most of them don't. Same applies to this draft non-sense.

For the most part these teams aren't going to tip their hand. And the ones that do often are doing so to pressure other teams in an attempt to gain leverage.

DET may very well want to draft a QB or trade the pick to someone else that does. I'd side on the latter. And a big part of that involves scaring teams into bumping up the price.

If I was MIA, I'd ignore all of it and focus on 5. Because the price is going to drive up too high, either from real interest or because they get others to buy into a bluff.

There will be really good players available at 5, that also fill a big need. And they can use #18 and some combination of other picks to move up for another QB. Or trade back from #5 to still get a QB and more draft capital.

This is such a weird thing to say...but if Tua fell to us I almost can't envision the Dolphins picking him. I'd love if they picked Tua if he was there at #5, but will be holding my breath right up until they do.

In all my years of being a Dolphins fan, they have picked the guy we fans thought they should pick, what maybe TWICE with Devante Parker and Ryan Tannehill? The road is littered with the Ted Ginn picks of the world where they selected a guy out of left field and this board went nuts. (Footnote: I was 1 when they picked Marino, so not counting that).

Even when in prime position to pick a QB they have tripped over their own feet with Ronnie Brown over Aaron Rodgers and Jake Long over Matt Ryan. Hopefully they don't have any surprises in store...but with this team the surprise is actually the one constant.
No one really wanted Rodgers at the time. All anyone was talking about was the Tedford curse.

At the risk of being flamed, if, in fact, Tua is a "generational talent," why do so many have Det, NYG, and Wash passing on him and keeping Stafford/Haskins/Jones? Maybe the tired 'ol 'they don't recognize talent?' Maybe there will be lingering worries about injuries in spite of reports. Maybe Grier/Flo prefer Herbert?

Don't get me wrong. If Tua is there, I'm hoping he's a Dolphin. But fans have no idea what any of the team @2 > #6 think of him. No idea who wants to move up, what the bid will be, or if the target team will be willing to trade. People throw opinions around like there is no debate. Wouldn't surprise me Miami leaks reports they LOVE Young and Okudah and are very impressed with Rosen. Get teams thinking they may lose their target at #6.
Those teams are not desperate enough to take the risk on the qb with that injury.

The Lions aren't going to the Superbowl this year so they may take Miami's # 1 next year to to move back to 5

I'll tell you what; if the Dolphins stay put at 5 and Tua falls to them...this board is gonna get real fun, real quick.
I am one of those individuals who does not want the Dolphins to trade up for Tua because I have serious doubts if his body will hold up in the NFL. As far as them staying at 5 and drafting Tua is concerned, I would have no problem with them drafting him with that pick simply because it is only one pick they would be using and not multiple picks they would have to give up to trade up to draft him.

I think the Dolphins need as many draft picks as possible over the next two draft classes and trading up to take a risk on an often injured QB just isn’t a smart move for the Dolphins as they go about rebuilding this team.

John Avery or Jamar Fletcher over Drew Brees - LoL

Exactly. It’s just a smoke screen as we are really targeting Charles Harris’ little brother.
