How did the top backs in this draft stack up in 2004?

1) J.J. Arrington - 289-2018 yards (7.0 YPC)

2) Ronnie Brown - 153-913 yards (6.0 YPC)

3) Vernand Morency - 258-1474 yards (5.7 YPC)

4) Ciatrick Fason - 222-1267 yards (5.7 YPC)

5) Cedrick Benson - 326-1834 yards (5.6 YPC)

6) Darren Sproles - 244-1318 yards (5.4 YPC)

7) Cadilac Williams - 239-1165 yards (4.9 YPC)

Stephon Lefors was rated the best QB, why is he a 7th rounder? It's college ball... These guys won't be getting 5.7 yards in the NFL...

well you can't really base questioning Benson as the number two pick solely on the fact that he didn't lead the NCAA in yards per carry. he did carry the ball more than any back this season so that lead to a little wear and tear, but besides all of this i say take Ronnie Brown he's my ture #2

How was Texas's schedule? What was the opponent strength?

Not the point, its simply to ask the question why spend a #2 pick on a guy like Benson? Who really doesn't standout.

So you think we should be looking at Arrington????

I agree, Brown is a bigger back than Benson who is a better athlete with less wear on his tires and got more per carry than Benson.

If you want to see a very telling stat on Benson, look at his games against Oklahoma and look at his stats in Bowl Games. That tells me all I need to know about him. He never cracked 100 yards against OK in any of the Longhorn's Bowl Games with him in the backfield.

and lets not forget he has better hands out of the backfield than Benson he's just an all around better player but he had to share carries with Caddy and that hurt his hype

The whole point in all of this?

Benson is overrated because everyone looks at his numbers. But when you break it down, he's not worth a #2.

Think Ron Dayne...
