Barry Jackson Notes: Draft Talk, Ireland Mention, Carl Peterson

After re-signing P.Solai and B.Grimes let's draft a game changing TE please, buy at least one dependable (expensive) OL and one cheaper "need to prove it" OL in FA too, then draft two more OL in the mid/later rounds. Find DT replacement, we need a more effective big back, watched Blount still gaining 2/3 yards after contact at the los, DT rarely seems to be able to do that! Find a replacement for P.Wheeler, mistakes happen, accept it and move on!

This part is very interesting:

### A few people who were in contact with Ireland this past season spoke last week about how frustrated he was with decisions made by his coaching staff about playing time. One agent said Ireland would tell him something about his client and the coaching staff would then tell the player the opposite.

Maybe it is because our coaches are a better evaluator of talent than our recently fired GM, who was fired because of his inability to find talent? Oh, I'm sorry....it was a mutual parting of ways haha.

Jackson left out Jace Amaro. I like Ebron better, but Amaron is that big catch radius guy the Fins could use. Plus, not "sexy", but they could go guard at 19 Zach Martin. Martin might be the safest pick of the draft IMO. Plus, you cannot go wrong at CB. Based on next year's sked, they better have enough talent at CB or the team could be in a ton of trouble.

Miami will be fine at 19.

I agree with you 100% Hayden. CB is more of a need than most think. I feel it comes down to the best available OT, OG, CB or Amaro @ #19.

The way see it our D was very good last year. The offense was the problem. I would resign most of the guys on defense. Cut Wheeler, find LB depth. Offensively we need a in line TE who is a mismatch threat, an OT, OG, and a RB who can pass protect. I would rate our needs OG, OT, TE, LB, RB. And then depth all over

Agreed. I actually like Amaro better personally...but I think Ebron goes off the board first. Amaro would be my pick if hes there.

Another guy to consider is Colt Lyerla. Scary past...and cocaine is no joke. I think it will knock him off many boards (maybe ours) and knock him down the rest. But if hes sitting there in the 6th, 7th round Id take a risk. Amaro in the 1st and Lyerla late? If he gets his head on straight youve got yourself two 1st round freak TEs talent wise. Heres an update on him http://www.oregonlive.com/ducks/index.ssf/2013/12/colt_lyerla_pleads_guilty_to_c.html

How does one end up with a name like Ha Ha Clinton Dix??

How does someone end up named Plaxico???? Here in the South folks ended up with different names as their Mother's maiden name was used but it's an entirely different world out there today.

The mutual parting between Miami Dolphins and Jeff Ireland looked professional. However, with the comments in this article it appears that Ireland hasn't waited very long to start slamming the Joe Philbin and the coaching staff. Ireland is already leaking like the Titanic.

So silly of you. FSU had had a long layoff and hadn't had to play a game into the fourth quarter all season. You're really going to let one quarter override what you've been seeing out of the guy for two years? Pfft. For some reason it's seen as more valid to ding a great player for a mediocre bowl game than it is to elevate a mediocre player that had a great bowl game. The reality though is that it's the same thing.

It's not like this doesn't happen to great players. It was a common theme on National Championship night but Warren Sapp ended up sucking wind on the sideline one game against Nebraska in the mid 90s. Just totally spent. That was a dominant team, too. Ray Lewis, et all. Even the great players have a tendency to let their foot off the gas when they're surrounded by other great players and pounding people into dust every week. Then when they face a true challenge they're not always up to it. That doesn't happen in the NFL, where every week is a challenge.

Not that I think Jernigan should be the pick. I'm just saying, it's poor reasoning you're engaging in here.
Not to mention Jernigan was playing his butt off disrupting the line of scrimmage most of the game, he's a great player!

What I want to know is why is Ireland even talking to agents about playing time? He should have zero input on that. That is the head coach and his staff's decision to make.

Also no mention of Richardson at #19 for G is a total fail.

Ya so that is whey the frustration right?

I wouldnt be concerned about Jernigans conditioning, thats something that could be vastly improved with 1 nfl offseason
